Problem getting on game.Follow

I just bought a new computer and got it about a week ago. I got it with WOW pre-installed because it was a free option and I thought it migth save a little time. I hooked it up and patched it up and played for a while that night then logged off. When I tried to log back in the first screen would come up, I clicked play, WOW appeared in my tool bar on the bottom of the screen, but the password screen would never pop up. When I tried to close out WOW it would not close out, I would have to Ctrl+ALT+Delete and shut it down with Task Manager. I have found if I keep trying sometimes it will let me on but it always takes several tries.

I did find if I delete the WTF file and run WOW repair it would usually let me on right after that but when I log back out I am back to the problem.

I have tried the following things:
Delete WTF folder
Run WOW repair tool
Clean wipe and completely re-load WOW.
Update all my computer drivers.

After each of these I thought it was making a differnce but it keeps going back to having to try multiple times to get on.

I can not think of anything else to try so I figured I would come here and see if anyone else has had this problem and see if they knew how to resolve it?

What antivirus/security software are you using? I know with LOTRO, after every update I have to delete and manually add permissions for it to get through my firewall. It is the ONLY game that does that, every other one has a little pop-up that I just allow. Even though that same pop-up happens with LOTRO, I still have to manually delete and add it.

It could be folder permission settings and/or running as administrator. You know the usual Windows' problems.

Keep in mind that most computers you have had for only a week can be returned. Wow corrupting itself after a clean re-install isn't a good sign. It may be a motherboard or harddrive issue. If you can swap it out for a different make or model, now may be the time. What make and model did you get?

Thanks for all the help guys. The computer is an Alienware M17X laptop. I did a lot of research and it is a known issue with Alienware lap tops and the WOW launcher having a problem hooking up. I did learn that if I open the WOW folder and click on the WOW exe it goes right on the game with no problems. I still have a few tricks to try but I can patch and I can play so I am content. I do not really want to send the computer back because it does everything else perfectly and from what I found this issue only came up after patch 4.2 so I think it will eventually be fixed.

Are you running a 64 bit Operating system? The 64 bit wow client is out now. Also, if you can start wow.exe successfully, rather than the launcher, you could just make an icon to start that up directly.
