Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit's Friiiiiiiiidaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!

Can you tell I'm excited? No? Well maybe you should pay more attention.

Anyway, what do you guys have planned for this weekend?

WoW Goals:
I will log onto WoW for a bit this weekend and at least run a couple of heroics. It would be nice to cap VP and/or get in a full LFR DS run.

Real Life Goals:
I don't really have much to do on the real life side of things, so that just means more time for PS3 games and WoW.

Happy weekend!

I'm not really sure what I'll be doing in WoW or outside of it this weekend.
Maybe I'll play my new druid alt, and/or do some randoms on my rogue and gather some money for heirlooms and enchants.

Then I guess I'll learn some new songs on the guitar, haven't got anything planned.

WoW - go log in and finish the 2 dungeon elders and the cata-zone elders on the one character who can actually do this stuff. Decided not to worry about the event too much on the sub 70's who can't get any of northrend / cata I may do the elders for the free XP if I get really bored but my sub goal is to run some more with my friend who has actually made an appearance this week, if I can push to 75 I can get the blacksmithing cap up and work on that, finally freeing up some bag space, he's been receiving mats for ages from my mining main so I hope that that takes care of MUCH of what I need to cap it.

RL - relax... got some apple sauce to puree and portion out today, decide if I'm going to make a second batch today or not. Clean up, getting "clutter" moved from the main-floor to the basement but the basement is reaching critical mass I'm going to have to spend some time down there containerizing things. Make room in the freezer for the meat-order that is arriving this week CSA ftw.

Waidaminute!!! I can't do Northrend until I'm 70?? Awww, man. I just purchased WotLK so was planning on visiting the Northrend Elders. I'm on the Alliance faction; is it that there are a lot of Horde faction in Northrend? Ah well, I'll poke my nose in there at least. I'm proud of several of the Elders I managed to get to on my own this week, either because they are in difficult to find places or have a high-level Horde mob standing nearby. After I picked up the Scholomance Elder, decided to see if, at level 60, I could finish one of the quests I had in the instance. Only died once (because I was stupd) - so was proud of that as well.

Oh wait - this is a goals for the weekend thread. Smiley: blush

I plan to continue working on the Elders and maybe head to the Lunar Festival itself.

Push my lil AH gnome rogue to level 10 after she sees the rogue trainer to pick up a couple more abilities.

EDIT: Forgot my rogue already is level 10 so she can rest a bit. Smiley: nod

*Maybe* dust off my BE Paladin (first-created character) and play her up a level or so. May send her in to scout out some of the remaining Elders who are in Horde areas to determine strategy or if I can even manage to get near them. After the Scholomance victory, I may poke my nose back into Strathmore and see if I can get any further there solo or *gasp* use the dungeon finder for the first time. (Makes mental note to create a macro - /p I'm brand new to WoW and have never grouped.)

RL - Grocery, laundry, installing new printer, connecting new monitor, sleeping - exciting stuff.

You can go to Northrend at 68, just like you could go to Outlands at 58. It's only the Cataclysm zones for which you need to be the previous level cap for.

RL:
Friday night should be wine & snacks, but my spouse will be out doing that with some of her friends instead, and I'll be home with the kittens having honey & peanut-butter sandwiches. The rest of the weekend will be busy with several dinners we're having for friends at our house, so house-cleaning and food prep. Still have some paperwork to get through.

WoW:
Might squeeze in some time this evening, but not sure what I want to accomplish. My 85 NE druid is still wearing ~i337 gear, so I would like to skin enough Savage Leather for my 80 human rogue to whip up some i377 Vicious Leather armor. But that needs a lot of Heavy Savage Leather to finish buying the patterns, then craft the gear. Even more Savage Leather and Blackened Dragonscale required for my 85 dwarf hunter for Vicious Dragonscale armor to upgrade his ~i317 gear. Time consuming and boring farming, and not enough leather (and overly expensive) in the AH to help. Beyond that I might poke around on some of my other horde / alli toons, and actually do some questing in revamped zones that I haven't gone back through yet.

Enjoy!

I meant the northrend dungeons which you won't get into until you're the level for them. Yes you can indeed get the northrend elders that are sitting in the world rather than in instances as long as you have cold weather flying (northrend flying) otherwise you'll attract a lot of attention, my level 70 got attacked and killed by a 77 in sholazar.

WOW: If I can get the computer fixed and play at all, that will count as a victory.

*Grumbles* Well gah. First I hit level 60, then discover I can't get my flight license without Cata, now I have to level to 68 to got to Northrend. Okkkkaaayyy...guess I'll be doing some leveling the next few days.

Thank you for the info and clarification, smunks. Smiley: smile

I hope you DID go to outlands and get flying at 60, you CAN fly in outlands... don't recall when you get to fly in northrend now.. ok just checked this
http://www.wowhead.com/skill=762
which says you can fly in northrend at 68.
once a player learns Expert Riding they will be able to use flying mounts. A player must train Cold Weather Flying in order to fly in Northrend, and purchase a Flight Master's License in order to fly in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, and Deepholm.

Ah, ok. Sitting close to level 61 right now and not having the Cata expac so I can't fly anywhere, I guess I'll be forgetting the Northrend Elders this year. At the moment, I have 38 coins, so with a bit of stealth, maneuvering and a lot of dying, I may be able to snag a few more in older zone dungeons. I've also heard that the Undercity Elder isn't really hard to get to for Alliance. Will send my Horde Pally in to check the lay of the land first.

Thank you for the clarification. Smiley: smile

When I went to the Flight Trainer, I was unable to purchase the flight license. Research online indicates needing the Cata expac to fly...anywhere. If that has changed I would love to know...but the flight license is still grayed out to me atm.

Then there's the matter when I do upgrade expacs and can fly, where to purchase a flying mount, which one to choose...and probably I need to earn a lot more gold...lol.

Go talk to a riding trainer if expert riding is NOT available to be purchased (can be bought at 60) then you already learned it and only need to buy a flying mount (slower / cheaper one) go to outlands and you can fly it all over.

In-game: Maybe a couple LFR's and LFD's on main to get valor; do Firelands dailies for Marks. Alts: do mining, JC and transmutes. May sell some high-level enchants. Level up 82 Druid, get a little more gear--she keeps running out of mana healing Cata dungeons. I never had a problem in 'Nilla, BC or Wrath instances...

Real life: Have (a few) beers. Hit the gym tomorrow. Light back work, light chest work in view of heavy chest day Monday. Making either loin of pork or short ribs tomorrow. Gotta shop for that.

Real life - spouse out of town on business all nest week. Want to stock up so don't HAVE a real life next week.

WOW - finished my elders yesterday, proving what I suspected, that an 85 can solo all LK dungeons. Is there any way I can show up on the dungeon doorstep and set the dungeon to heroic rather than basic? There's a mount I'd like to try for.

This weekend I'll be on the commuter redeye between MF dailies and the AT - still grinding on my fourth city championship. Two more "days" should do it. Drop into Org and shoot off my fireworks and buy some of that (shudder) lunar "finery".

Probably should resume Cata heroic dungeons and maybe get my feet wet in raiding. And I thought there's be nothing to do after level 85......

yeah you can set your dungeons to heroic any time you want (if they have heroic mode available etc)

right click your character portrait up top, click dungeon difficulty, select heroic. Profit.

WoW: Leveling alts as usual :). I'm hoping to have more time for it than I have previously. We'll see.

Real Life: housework stuff on Sunday, errands on Saturday. And I'm going to work on my writing project for 1 hour Saturday night.

Add to this for "In-game": Do some PvP. I am teh suk at PvP. Bought a set of 377 (three peices anyways) and have a couple of 390's. Bought some Honor with my excess JP's. Lately I've been more survivable with the Resilience. But I need to L2P. max'd out on valor, so maybe some LFD's for loot and PvP. Maybe beg for an Arena partner and hopefully come across someone worse than me...

Bet I'm "suckier" than you at PvP. (Why am I bragging about this? Smiley: lol)

Interesting to come across this today. I never played on a PvP server in EQ, in fact I never even created a character on one. I'm not a real skilled gamer as in knowing the quick keyboard moves, strafing, etc. so I know I'd be killed constantly in PvP. Plus the whole concept just doesn't interest me.

So I'm merrily questing along in the Outlands last night; well as much as one can *be* merry when in a place that looks like I've landed in hell...and I get this quest called "Hellfire Fortifications" that requires me to "capture" three towers. After finding the first tower and killing all NPCs in the area and nothing happens re: the quest log, I'm wondering, "Ok, how do I "capture" these towers?" I look up the quest with my trusty Google and.....ARRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!! I have to stand by the flag in each tower AND be flagged PvP. This is not going to end well.

Yanno, if I wanted to play PvP I'd flag myself PvP or play on a PvP server. At any rate, I go find the flag, set myself as PvP, start watching the bar move from Horde to Alliance and WHAM!! Dead. Killed by some level 66 player who I never even saw. (I was level 61 at the time.) Grumbling all the way back to my corpse I'm thinking...I'm going to have to do this quest at like 4 am on a weeknight when no one is in the zone...lol.

Get back to my corpse and there's my "assassin" running circles around the area, just waiting for me to rez to kill me again. All I wanted was to rez and get out of there and do that quest much later, but this dude is standing there obviously waiting for me to rez. So, I click off the PvP flag and decide not to rez until the 5 minutes have gone by and he can't kill me. I wasn't sure if people can see one's "ghost" but to test it out I climbed up to where he was and stood in front of him. He moved away - I followed; he started his running circles routine and bouncing all around again - a tip off that he's likely young (endless jumping and circle running I've come to associate with teens). Apparently he got tired of waiting for me to rez and finally left. When I was no longer PvP I rezzed, healed up and was going to move on to another quest, but heard the shout that the next area had been taken by the Alliance. I raced over there; sure enough the flag was blue. Quickly put on PvP and somehow was able to "capture" that area. Now that I see how this goes, I went to the next location and a level 85 appeared to turn the flag from red to white. (Not sure if he was a GM or just a coincidence.) Since I wouldn't have to stand there as long decided to go for that one, but tested a theory. Instead of standing by the flag, thus painting a virtual target on my back, I hid in a crevice of the area, turned on the PvP flag and YES!!! The meter began counting down. Got that one!!!

With my new-found strategy I was able to complete the quest! However, this episode just underscored for me that I reaaaaaaaalllllllly dislike PvP and "I'm the major suk" at it!!!!

I see there is some confusion about flying - when, where, what level, etc. I was going on a number of posts/articles I'd read by Googling "What level can one fly in WoW" and kept getting (whatever) level, but after your posts I realized I must be missing something. I looked over my professions/abilities again and *did* find one that said to train in expert riding (I think) and, as you've been trying to tell me, I *can* fly in the Outlands. Smiley: blush

Thank you, Gwenorgan, for continuing to emphasize this. Being able to fly in the Outlands will be REALLY helpful. I checked out the prices of the Gryphons at Honor Hold and was amazed how inexpensive they are. I got the impression that flying mounts would be really expensive, and likely some of the fastest, best ones are.

I want to complete a few more quests in the Outlands before heading back to SW, but I plan to do that sometime today so I can fly there when I return! Thank you again!

If you can't already fly when you first go to Outlands (I usually put it off until I'm at 60), you should get it asap afterwards. Outlands is MUCH less of a drag if you can fly.

I'm seeing that...lol. Is it me or does much of the landscape seem tilted? I'm constantly having to reposition my view so I'm not leaning sideways.

Update: I'm level 62 (almost 63) - went back to SW to bank, train some new abilities, etc. and purchased a Snow Gryphon to ride so looking forward to that when I return to the Outlands. With the new Valentine quests beginning and needing to complete my Elders - think I'll do that for a little while before returning there.
