Can't tame pets!Follow

Okay, I was playing this evening when I decided to try to tame a Vampiric Mist Bat. I know they are tamable, however, when I would hit the tame button, it would say that I had too many pets, I only have one, and I had it dismissed when trying to tame it...ummm help? T_T

You have two storage spots, active and stable. You get up to 5 active pet slots over the course of levelling and can summon any active pet as long as another isn't out. Stable slots are always max available (16 I believe), but must be moved from the stable to active to be used. This is done at a stable master who are near most inns.

You dismissed your pet but it was still in your active slots, of which you only have one at your level. You need an empty active slot to tame a pet.

It's "Call Pet 2-5" from the class trainer. According to Wowhead you get more at 18, 42, 62 and 82. Until then if you want to tame a new pet you either need to stick your old one in the stable or dismiss it permanently.
