Hello everyone!

I recently just came back to the game and thanks to an awesome GM I was able to recover my level 74 mage. When I came back my character was naked with no gold and so I quested a full set of greens. I started running some dungeon for gear and would like to know if anyone has any good farming spots for someone my level (now 77). Or should I just keep leveling until I reach cap then farm? I have no flying mount so that's on the agenda, aswell as having enough gold for other random things I need/ may need.

I recommend you keep leveling before you worry about farming. The gold will come naturally as you complete quests.

Since you just came back to the game, I'm assuming you don't have Cataclysm? If you do, go ahead and level to 85. If not, once you hit 80 you can decide if you want to continue, or you can start farming then. There's, unfortunately, not that large a demand for Wrath stuff at the moment (unless it looks cool, which means it is likely wanted for Transmogrification - a new feature that allows you to change the appearance of gear you have equipped into other items you own).

Either way, keep leveling. Once you hit your level cap, quests will give you gold instead of experience, which makes questing one of the most efficient ways to get money.

Welcome back and great to meet you. Smiley: smile

That is wonderful news about the GM helping you. I just began playing WoW late December so it is good to hear the GMs are that responsive.

Happy adventuring and questing!

Thank you for the welcome and thanks for the replies. Glad I was able to get my old character(s) back. Tried starting over but that sucks plus I couldn't find anyone to play with. And I know this might sound silly but I actually enjoy farming lol one of those things that I actually have fun doing. I get bored of questing so I hope I can stay motivated till I can hit cap. Anyway heres a question for you folks. What do you do for fun in game that you enjoy? Maybe I can pick up a new in game hobby! =)

If you enjoy farming, go with archaeology. Plenty of exp, some gold and pets and mounts.
I also make decent money fishing for higher lvl foods.

I've actually found Wrath mats to be pretty profitable, since almost no one actually farms them. Frostweave cloth, and the different herbs in particular do really well. I spent a good chunk of gold making my Jeeves on my priest a while back too. And that was with an alchemist who could transmute saronite into titanium. =x

What professions do you have? If you like farming, getting two of herbalism, mining and skinning would be good. If you don't have them already, you could spend a good amount of time getting your skill caught up to your level so you can farm while you quest. I also second Archaeology. You might enjoy fishing too. Both of those profs make my eyes bleed, lol.

Something I've found fun in the past is mount collecting and rep grinding. Not sure how well you'd do as a level 77 mage, but once you hit 80 you could do a frost spec and farm Burning Crusade heroics. Magister's Terrace on the island just north of Silvermoon has a pet, a mount, and a nice vanity item that turns you into a blood elf. Obviously, it's not as cool to have if you already are a blood elf. Running the different dungeons in Zangarmarsh for Cenarion Expedition rep can be fun too, and you get a cool hippogriff mount (purchasable for 1500g) once you hit exalted. There's also Sethik Halls, which if you do on heroic there's a different boss that you can kill for a chance to drop the Raven Lord mount. One that would definitely be soloable for you is Stratholme's dead side for Rivendare's mount. All of the dropped mounts I mentioned are the non-flying variety, so you'd be able to use them as soon as you get them.

Depending on how good you are at making money, I think it would be worth it to take a time out and do some farming to try and save up for your flying mount. Even just the first flying speed gives you 150% vs. the 100% of your land mounts. Of course you'd also have to save up a bit for the Northrend flying skill, but it's only like 500g I think? Compared to the cost of the flying training itself, that's not much. At the very least, if you don't have enough gold for it by the time you hit 80, you're going to want to take a break from leveling until you get it, because leveling in the new cata zones without a flying mount (or the seahorse mount, which you need flying skill to use iirc) would suck ***.

I second (or third) the suggestion to pick a gathering profession and do it while out questing, farming, or exploring. My main has mining/engineering. I am so glad I chose a gathering profession when I first began because I find it so much fun to be traveling from here to there or questing, see a yellow node on my mini-map and veer off saying, "Ooooo, shiny!"

Since I'm so new to the game, my main enjoyment is following the quest chains and really getting into the spirit of the lore. Some of the quests are apparently relatively new. I'll tell my friend who has been playing WoW for a long time about some and she has never heard of them and wants to go check them out. As examples, I've "been" a raptor hatchling; had my own gypsy caravan that traveled throughout various areas, stopping to fight/quest along the way; been reprimanded by an Ogre that I shouldn't kill and then proceeded to show a "better way" to me; shot out of cannons; killed mobs by sitting in a gun turret and spinning around; maneuvered a motorcycle-type vehicle through a hail of falling rocks, etc.

I'm also having a lot of fun learning the ins and outs of the AH. I'm still like a kid at Christmas when I see the little envelope signaling usually successful sales.

Recently began pet collecting, but each pet has a "story" connected to it so each one is meaningful and brings back a memory from the game.

"These are a few of my favorite things...."

I recommend leveling a new alt through at least 60. They completely revamped the old world and quite a few of the quests are a blast to do. I wouldn't worry about gearing up too much in wrath, once you start questing in Hyjal or Vashj'ir you will be getting gear that is ICC equivalent.

Level a new alt?!? INSANITY!!!! I might be up for that though, like others have said that they enjoy the story aspects of the game as do I. I have Herbalism and Skinning as my two professions. I was actually thinking about rounding up a few people for a reroll group on the main forums to see if I have any takers. Other than raiding I love farming. And want to do both asap. I do enjoy pvp but its no fun with out proper gear. =(

If you start over, take both mining and herbalism. The mini map can display nodes for both now and each gives XP. Together, they are a nice boost when leveling.

Take mining and herbalism and take up archaeology... just hit the nodes when you have to fly by them in your travels anyway unless you really want to farm it and travel just for it. They've really increased the number of fragments you get per dig site, I think I've gone from 3 pieces to 8 pieces per dig so 24 per site some visits...
