Also, if someone in a LFD group is a real jerk to you, or just a really bad player, if they've said anything in party chat or say chat, you can right click their name and choose to ignore them. Then you will never be grouped with that character again. For whatever reason, you can't do it via the party or target ui.

I think you can also do it via manually typing in an ignore command, which can get tedious if they've got a strange character in the name.

I've tried that before, and it doesn't work. There's always the chance that i'm doing it wrong though.

Is thee a more recent release of Female Dwarf? I tried to use it as an analyzer tool, but it doesn't recognize a lot of my gear.

I just loaded my character into femaledwarf.com and the gear list has all hunter mail down to item level 333, and below - I spy a 305 helmet, forex.

Did you type the gear in manually? I tried to load from Armory and was told that my helm, chest armor, gloves booos and something else were unrecognized

And just to add my 2 cents i have always played Marksman iv tried the other 2 specs but just couldn't get into them. Beastmastery is only "fun" because you can tame some pretty unique pets only available to that tree but other then that its still to my knowledge the lowest of the dps specs. Don't get me wrong for lvling and beginning dungeons its not really all that big of a deal but if you want to be the best you can be marks or survival are the way to go for end game. Of course if you find you like playing BM over the other specs then go with what you enjoy though with duelspec available its easy to have your secondary as one of the "better" specs for raiding if thats the route your eventually going to go.

As stated http://www.noxxic.com/ia good place to look and very easy to navigate. I personally don't like elietest jerks as you have to wade though posts to find anything useful.

the other thing you should think about doing is getting professions since a few of them can give boosts to your character, Enchanting for ring enchants, inscription for a good shoulder enchant, Leather working for bracer buff, Jewel crafting get you 3 uber gems for slots, blacksmithing for a couple extra sockets. Just as a warning you can only take 2 prime professions and would suggest unless your planning on farming dailys to make a ton of gold to pick your other profession to pick mining, skinning or herbalism to match your other profession(with the exception being enchanting as it can stand by itself).

I'm fairly sure I've had it work, though I might have used some kind of trick to do it. Shift clicking on someone's name in the party interface, maybe? Maybe it was through the ignore box instead of an ignore command?

Like I said, I vaguely remember making it work on someone who hadn't said anything in chat(or at least after their name had scrolled far enough off my chat log so I couldn't scroll back up and click it). If I remember to log on this weekend and either of my Real ID friends are on, I'll have them invite someone to group with us and play with it til I figure it out.

If your profile from the other hunter thread is still accurate, Femaledwarf probably doesn't recognize your non-agility pieces.

I was a former FFXI guy....

Here's the thing. You need to decide your play style PRIOR to deciding your spec.

Here are the 3 main play styles:

Leveling - You are not at 85 yet. Your focus is on increasing your level, doing small quests, grouping for random 5-mans. From a Leveling perspective EVERYTHING is viable. For example - You can level as a healer or as a damage dealer or as a tank. The only difference will be a *SLIGHT* increase in killing efficiency.

End Game PVE - You are 85 and you are working on 5-mans, Heroic 5-mans, Raids, and Hard Mode Raids. You will be expected to go to Elitist Jerks (Website - Just google it) and read the threads on Spec, Gear, Gems, enchants, etc. While you are perfectly free to be a warrior wearing healer gear - you won't be very welcome in groups... Some classes have several viable specs. For example - Melee (Cat) druids are just as welcomed in groups as ranged (Moonkin) druids... (Assuming of course you gear you Cat with Agility and your Moonkin with Intelligence)

End Game PVP - You are 85 and competing in Battle Grounds, Rated Battle Grounds or Arena. You will be expected to know the PVP specs. As I don't PVP - i have no idea where to get this info... Areana Junkies???

If you are leveling - as a hunter - frankly it doesn't matter. ALL of your specs are Ranged damage + pet. Personally, I'd recommend Beast Master because it gives you the most powerful Pet stuff - which will be helpful while leveling. But you can level how ever you like. Certain classes are best leveled in specific ways. For example - Druids are best leveled in CAT form because they do not use mana - thus the player does not need to stop to drink to replenish mana. Is CAT form more efficient - YES. Does it matter, though - NO. Mages are best leveled in Frost form. Why - frost has a lot of control and burst. Fire and Arcane are perfectly viable, but frost offers the new player the MOST control over mobs. (Which is very helpful when you are weak)

Okay from the FFXI perspective:

I do want to level, I am not so interested in doing end game (Dynamis/Sky/Sea/Limbus type events) I am not all about having the best gear oober gear to show off.

I am more the play style that enjoys leveling solo or group, just so long as I get to see main scenarios and cut scenes type things.

So specing my hunter for my play style is obviously all on me...

Next question would be, are there main scenario story lines that I can do solo or is all that group content? I.E. I need a group in order to particpate? Answering in those terms may very much so help me choose how I spec my hunter.

I have already started beast mastery due to my leveling style (solo), however I guess if I am to see main scenario type events it sounds like my secondary specs I'll need to focus on specing it for DPS? Or eventually reworking my specs to suit DPS group situations?

I suspect this is the case - if you wear the druid tanking leg armor (sta/agi) for pvp purposes instead of the agi/crit pve armor, it doesn't recognize that either.

Most of the "content" that required groups even in the "non instanced" every day realm has been nerfed to point you can solo it. IE Nagrand the kill 30 of this and 30 of that end bosses used to require a group as did the tusker at the end, tusker hardly has as many HP as I do now. Not sure about the wandering gronn who stomped me numerous times haven't tried him recently.

I'm not sure how relevant this link might be, had it buried in my bookmarks, but it might help you with some gear selection and how to get it:

The only group quest I haven't been able to do on my smite-spec disc priest is the one with the giant elemental near the Temple of Telhamat in Hellfire. Mind you, I haven't tried the Path of Conquest or anything else in Shadowmoon.

But I killed the three wanted poster targets in Dragonblight at level solo in five minutes total, and that would have been suicide when it first came out.

Basically, yeah, there are very few real group quests anymore.

It isn't - not close, even. Between a couple of lucky vendor buys, a fair spot of gold at the AH, and some luck in a couple of dungeons, almost all of the old stuff is swapped out. I think the only one of the pieces with attribute buffs other than agility or hit is one ring.

Some of its recent, though - I'll ive it a couple of days and try again.
