Okay...so...*stamps newb on her forehead so people will know newb question is coming up*
I know you can obtain pet through training, but can you obtain more pets through an AH? I havn't been to a main city yet...so was just curious...I ask cause I saw that at my level for my hunter I could obtain an owl, which I love owls...however the one for my level is in the Night Elf area I believe? Was just curious :P

Every pet in the game, all the different skins, different locations, diets (does anyone care about this one anymore?), special abilities, etc.
Gotta catch 'em all.
Also, yes, the Nelf starting area is probably your best bet to easily grab one.

You'll either being doing a lot of corpse running until you get through Darnassus, or waiting until you get into the 20s or 30s to go after the ones in duskwood.
If you have a friend with a 2-seated mount though, they could carry you up there pretty easily. I don't know how plausible it is to get past the guards on the boats and stuff...

But of course. In that case, you'll be needing one of these: Hyjal Darkhawk.I'm a bit confused as to what it is you are asking. Are you asking about hunter pets or the non-combat pets? Non-combat pets you purchase via AH and vendors. Hunter pets you have to go tame.
