That's not exactly a necessity.

Smiley: lol I just spent 20 minute equipping and unequipping Daedric and Ebony armor. I was trying to convince myself that I should wear the Daedric stuff as I rarely view my character in 3rd person view anyway. But it's so ugly!

Just as I was starting to embrace the asymmetric horror that is Daedric design, I got the Nightingale armor. Not only is it better enchanted, it also belongs to a different armor type (light) than Daedric (heavy) which I'm not proficient in at all. Smiley: banghead

But it's soooo cool! It fits my stealthy werewolf assassin battlemage archer (wait, what?) perfectly!

Well, this is where you've gone wrong, obviously. When you get a new game, the first thing you do is find out who wears the coolest armor. If the robes look best, you're a caster, whether you like it or not. If it's plate, you're a warrior. In Skyrim, the leather armor is clearly and by far the best, so you play a thief type and get proficient with light armor from the second that one guy cuts you out of bondage and tells you to take the armor off that other, deader, guy. That's just how it has to be. Really Maz, a gaming vet like you should know this basic stuff.

Edit: weird though that your assassinarcherguy isn't already proficient in light armor.

omg it's a teacake! I know we have a Skyrim thread in the General Games forum. It's not the same as having its own individual forum, but it's better than nothing. =x

I did! Ebony Armor ♥

Heavy armor (mostly) > light armor (mostly). Until you get the Thieves Guild armor (minus hood), there's really no awesome light armor in the game, except for maybe Studded Leather Armor. And my OCD demands that I wear not only the most aesthetically pleasing gear, but also the most efficient gear! Hence why I was having trouble deciding between Ebony and Daedric Armor.

Besides, the awesome thing about Skyrim is that you can go an archer battlemage assassin warrior guy in plate armor if you want to. As long as you have the time.

I started out as an bow/sword/shield guy, went bow/greatsword when my Heavy Armor skill got up there (and I was able to get better gear), but later switched over to bow/sword/spells guy when I got the one-handed bonus perks from Sneak and the heavy armor weight removal from Heavy Armor.

My biggest problem when I created my character was whether I should go light or heavy armor. I didn't like most of the crafted light armor (lol Glass Armor) in the game and had no plans of going the Thieves Guild route (lawful good character, but he had a change of heart somewhere along the way). The conclusion was to get to 70 in Heavy Armor so I could wear heavy armor while sneaking around (because I love sneaky sneaky). Turns out my Sneak skill went up way faster than expected, so by the time I got to 70 in Heavy Armor, I was already up to Muffled Movement in Sneak.

Now I'm wearing the Nightingale Armor, though, since it's enchanted and my Ebony Armor isn't. Once I find some Fortify Archery enchants, though, I'm going to level up Enchanting and get me some Ebony Armor enchanted for shooting stuff in the face and stabbing them in the back.

After that, I might just go talk to those Greybeards and finish the Imperial Legion chain. Then I'll head to Windhelm and find a way to join the Dark Brotherhood. My will is going to include a paragraph about my grandchildren having to finish the last quests before they can inherit anything.

Oh. Good. Glad to hear you went about it the right way then. ;)

I LOVE the thieves guild armor. It didn't take me long to give up my morals to join up and get that. I love this about Skyrim, that I can do stuff in pretty much any order at any time. I had my TG armor by level 15 and my favorite house (Vlindrel Hall, obvii) as soon as I could get the quest at 20. Dragons, schmagons, I just want to look good and live somewhere cool. Actually that house was the last one I got, since you can get the other 3 whenever, and I don't have Hjerim yet.

Slightly on topic - I mean, not THIS topic, but at least WoW related - Skyrim made me realize how many more years I'd have played WoW if they had player housing. I never paid much attention to all the people asking for it before but it makes sense to me now. Skyrim's houses aren't even customizable, but if I could buy a house in, say, the Western Plaguelands, and then, like, furniture and stuff at exorbitant prices? A huge time/money sink to painstakingly build and decorate my house? BRING IT ON! I would never do this in something like Rift that I didn't have as much investment in, but for my priest who I played for years, I'd have fallen for that in a heartbeat.

Hey Pigtails!

Skyrim housing is one of the things I just don't care about. I'm 30 levels in and I haven't bought a house yet (blowing all my gold on armor and stuff anyway). I'm the kind of player who just logs out wherever I am. The only reason I log out in towns in WoW is because of the instant log out vs the 'wait 20 seconds'.

I always bought a house in Morrowind/Oblivion/Fallout as a place to store my stuff. I'm a terrible hoarder when it comes to keeping extra weapons for repairs, ammo, spare parts, and alchemy supplies.

I'm a terrible hoarder as well, but it's limited to ingredients and I kinda sorta downloaded a mod that changes the weight values on ingredients to nothing.

I also have a tendency to hoard potions and elixirs. I have a bunch of magicka potions that I never use because I'm an archer first, a swordsman second and a mage in case of emergencies only. Not to mention the 20+ Curse Disease potions I run around with. I'm a werewolf. I can't get infected. Smiley: facepalm

Also, I have a weakness for leek in this game. Seems like whenever I'm picking up ingredients, I accidentally pick up some leek as well. I make a mean stew out of them, though.

As a mage, I am sitting on a ************** of dragon crafting materials. Which I will likely never use.

It wouldn't be so bad if the damn shopkeepers could take more than one freaking bone at a time.

Grats Pigtails,

That is a big scary list with some names out of the past. Some of them seem confined to the Asylum now which is probably for the best. Others are a bit sad because I remember playing with them once upon a time and they have moved on.

I got Skyrim for Christmas and have my Redguard up to I think level 6 or 7. It is a very interesting game but I'm doing too much else to give it the time it deserves. maybe if SW:TOR server go titsup for a day or two Smiley: smile

It reminds me somewhat of what the fans were asking for with the first attempt at a Warhammer MMO which got scrapped because Climax didn't. They wanted an interface with no info displays, no conning of mobs, just go out there and see what you can figure out. Bunch of loonies really, especially the permadeath brigade.

Because I'm not playing much anymore and I forgot. =x You'd probably be better off sending me one if you still have my email address from the FB group.

Generally I like it. The only thing I've found so far that bugs me is when you hide stuff from your timeline, it then auto picks something else to add. I'd rather be able to go through and pick what I want to show myself.

I also tried finding a status update from December and couldn't find it, which is really annoying. It was one of those things where you invite people to comment on the status, and the first five people who do, you'll make something for them sometime in 2012. I know DF commented on it, but I don't remember who else did and I don't want to be a jack *** and forget about it. =x
