Level 26 Human Paladin - Where to go Next?Follow

I've been having difficulty trying to find websites, posts, etc. for suggested areas for various levels of fighting in WoW. With Google I keep finding "Buy this great level guide" sites.

So, have just been in WoW about a month, maybe less, am a level 26 Human/Alliance Paladin, just completed the Shadowfang Paladin quest, and am at a complete loss of where to go next. Thus far I've done most of the quest/fighting in the Goldshire areas, Redridge Mountains (LOVED the Bravo Squad quests), and Duskwood.

Where would you all suggest I head to next?

Thank you for any responses.

Go to Stormwind and check the board next to the Auction House. As you level up, you will find notices there that will guide you to the next zone for your level. You will find similar notices in each major city, the only real difference is that they steer you to zones that are close to that city and so you'll find different notices in Darnassus than you see in Stormwind.

Always swing by the board when you go to train. The breadcrumb quests give you a useful bit of reputation and some XP.

Rhode beat me to the "hero's call" board, located in every capital city for your faction... darnassus, ironforge, stormwind and... lets see
silvermoon city, ogrimmar and... uh-oh... thunderbluff?
Undercity?
There's also a nifty feature when you hit M on your keyboard in game that brings up a map, when you right click that map so that you're looking at the continent as you "mouse-over" EACH zone it tells you the name of the zone and the intended level that you'd "use" that zone. But definitely check out the hero's call board as it does give you XP, I just travelled to 4 areas yesterday where I had the quests from the boards while I was doing archaeology anyway. Free xp, was already travelling across the continent....

Thank you both soooo very much! It's an unusual sensation feeling "lost" in a game...lol. I'm in Stormwind now so will head to the board to check out where to head. I really appreciate the tip on the map as well. My nose has been glued to the map while trying to navigate Stormwind; probably mowing over everyone in my path. *Blushes*

If you still want to know where to go your choices are Northern Stranglethorn, Arathi Highlands, and Stonetalon Mountains. Stonetalon is in Kalimdor, the other two are on opposite ends of Eastern Kingdom. I would highly recommend Northern Stranglethorn though since you are already sticking with the quests over there.

Hehe I can relate to the feeling of being lost. I had the hardest time navigating Orgrimmar and Undercity when I was playing Horde. Eventually you will get used to it. Smiley: tongue

As it turned out, the board I read in StormWind sent me to Stranglethorn - having a great time with the quests and obtained another level. Smiley: smile The funny thing is I got notice of a server restart in 15 minutes. I had killed 3 of 4 mobs in the cave and was looking for the 4th thinking, "I can find and kill him within 15 minutes." Well, I *did* FINALLY find the 4th - 45 sec. 'til restart - had boss 60% dead and....logged out...lol. I can expect to be immediately set upon when I re-enter game.

Orgrimmar!!! Ugh. My first toon was a Blood Elf and I went to Orgrimmar for some reason and thought I would NEVER find my way out. Then when I found the dirigibles there were two of them and it took me awhile to figure out which one I needed. Yeah, think I'll stick with the Alliance. *grins*

Easy way to tell:

There's a goblin standing near the platform where the zeppelin pulls up. Mouse over him, it'll say things like "Tirisfal Glades Zeppelin Master" or "Stranglethorn Zeppelin Master".

That's how you know where it goes.

OR, remember it this way:

WEST Tower:
West Side: Thunder Bluff
East Side: Borean Tundra (do NOT go here unless you have the Wrath of the Lich King Expansion and you are Level 68+!)

EAST Tower:
West Side: Tirisfal Glades (Undercity)
East Side: Northern Stranglethorn

Also, look at the decor near the towers:

Thunder Bluff has a big wooden totem pole with red and white paint on it.
Borean Tundra have a bunch of wooden boxes with Horde insignias and red crosses on it, and the zeppelin that pulls in there looks different (it has a goblin girl peddling and it has a shark face painted on it).

Tirisfal Glades has purple flags with white insignias on them.
Stranglethorn's has palm trees near the dock.

Also, the Tirisfal Glades Zeppelin has Undead Deathguards on-board.
The Stranglethorn's Zeppelin master is named "Snurk Bucksquick" (very weird name, very easy to remember) and is the only female Zeppelin master in Orgrimmar IIRC.

They gave you lots of tools to remember which Zeppelin goes where. You can also right-click each Zeppelin Master, who will tell you where the Zeppelin goes (and where it is currently).

Not all. The Northrend zeppelins don't have that feature.

Thank you for great info, Lyrailis. Smiley: smile Still remembering I can hover over NPCs for more info. If I ever venture into Orgrimmar again, this info will be most helpful.

No problem at all.

I can understand how intimidating Orgrimmar can be for the first few times you try to navigate it; I felt the same right after The Shattering happened.

I was used to Old Orgrimmar, and when The Shattering happened, I got a pretty good shock and found myself lost in this new Orgrimmar.

I couldn't imagine a new player trying to figure out how to get to things like the Flight Master or the Zeppelins.

If you need more tips/pointers on how to navigate that mess that is Orgrimmar, don't hesitate to post here. I'm pretty used to it by now, after Brewfest, and levelling a few gropos through Org's Cooking/Fishing dailies, I know my way around the place pretty good.

Edit: Anyone else remember when the Zeppelins were outside the city?
When The Drag was actually dark?
When the Bank and Flight Master's Tower were right next to each other in the middle of the city?

Without flying, new Orgrimmar is a *****, with flying it's really not so bad.

The main thing about New Org I don't like, are those stupid elevators. I mean, seriously, they could not put a ramp or some-such in there somewhere?

And with flying, it is those stupid canopies that you keep getting hung up on when you're trying to go from the Cleft of Shadow up to the Earth Shrine (Cata Portals). You go up and WHAM you hit your head on one of those stupid canopies and have to wiggle around trying to find one of the gaps between em.

They coulda done without em, IMO.

Welcome to the game. Going through it the first time, there is so much to explore. Have fun. I play Alliance as well, and remember running through Stormwind with my map open. I also tried climbing up the back of Ironforge Mountain, before I found the road to it. Good times...

I remember that also. At the airport there was a tunnel that lead to Silithus. Well technically you couldn't just port there from the tunnel but at the end of it you certainly could talk in the general chat there. Smiley: laugh

I would recommend an addon called Cromulent. I believe you can get it from either curse or wowace addon sites. It shows you the level min-max for each area on the map. This makes it easy to tell at a glance where you should be/go.

Have they fixed it? I was having trouble with it after 4.3 and I finally had to uninstall it. I haven't looked for an update because I find the breadcrumb quests off the bulletin boards make it somewhat moot for me.

On a side note, you don't need that addon. If you hover your mouse over a zone it will tell you the level range. Going to verify real quick and will edit my post with the results.

Edit: If you go to the overworld of Eastern Kingdoms (or Kalimdor if you are questing over there) and place your mouse over a zone it will tell you what level the zone is. For example Wetlands (20-25).

Yeah my first response in the thread kind of indicated the level overview, at least for original wow zones.... no add-on needed.
So you get to choose hero's board with it's little bit of XP from the breadcrumb quests or just go zone to zone. I choose the breadcrumbs because I'm back in the city in order to do class training anyway.

ETA - had a character in dalaran, it's built into the basic game it seems for level zones, Northrend, and cata zones display expected level ranges.

OR you could of course type the name of the board quest into Wowhead, sort the list a by the minimum quest level, and come up with something like this.

Hi again and another thank you to everyone and your extremely helpful responses. It's hard to believe it's only been 5 days since I posted this. Soooo much has happened in the game. I wanted to especially thank you, Lyrailis, for this great guide to the Orgrimmar zeppelins. I didn't expect to be back there any time soon, but decided to move my blood elf to Booty Bay (the human Paladin is now in that line of quests) so I can try to transfer items via the neutral AH. Thus the blood elf found herself once more in Orgrimmar on this journey and by using your guide, finding the right zeppelin was a cinch!!! Smiley: smile

Thank you for your welcome, dadanox, and please forgive the lapse of time in my response. Each day in game I learn so much and become a bit more comfortable. I keep reminding myself of when I began EQ in 1999 and the learning curve involved. My first created EQ toon managed to drown THREE times in the Felwithe moat. Since I didn't know how to swim (or walk apparently Smiley: grin) nor how to get my corpse out of the moat, that toon was re-created until on the fourth try I decided to not enter Felwithe - or do *anything* until I went to a local game store and purchased the EQ guide. Like you said...good times. Smiley: lol

As a sidenote, I am really annoyed with the conclusion of the Be Raptor line of quests in STV. I was having such fun with that quest, especially after getting the lil raptor hatchling that followed me around. Sooo cute! Then, had to give her to the mob boss as part of the quest. Smiley: oyvey At first I thought it was a trap of sorts, but then I saw by giving the raptor to the boss I got a reward and experience so thought...ok...there has to be a happy ending.

It took me about 6 hours over 2 days to *finally* get through the Be Raptor part of the quest without being netted and having to start again. That was an exercise in patience, persistence, and frustration Smiley: banghead but Princess whoever kept intimating I'd be re-united with my lil raptor again which is why I was determined to complete that quest. Then I get strangled????? Really, Blizzard? I spend a good part of two days on that one part of a quest line and now learn I only get the raptor back at the end of a level 85 Heroic Quest??? Smiley: cry

Minor rant: A little pet that doesn't do anything that would be a "buff" in the game (like helping fight mobs, be a flying mount, etc.) has to wait for one to reach approximately level 85, then join a massive raid??? I've always been a casual player and never raided in EQ in 7 years!!! IMO, doing just the Be Raptor part of the quest should end with the hatchling as a pet!!!!

I did read a similar hatchling is a rare drop from various mobs in the area, but apparently that could take a huge amount of time as well. Ah well.

Otherwise, having a great time in game. lol

Since I was tipped off to the mouse-over on map for zone levels, I've been using that basically while traveling. I really like the Hero's Board - that is how I ended up in STV for that quest line which now has me running all over the Booty Bay area and there appears to be a quest that will take me via ship to yet another area.

Thank you all for these tips!

After you get done with the quests at Booty Bay you will get an option to go to Western Plague Lands, Dustwallow Marsh, or Feralas. I think WPL is the better option of the three, mainly due to setting you up for Eastern Plague Lands.
