Trying to get ready once I get my gear up, I asked one of our senior guildies about raid requirements. One thing he mentioned was that I'd need to use voice with "Vent".

I am assuming he means Ventrilo, fine. What I am wondering, though, is what I need to look for in a headset. Obviously general sound quality and a good Mic are critical, but if possible, I'd like it also to be able to double as a good stereo music headset. I do have mild hearing impairment on one side and tinnitus. AND I'd like to keep it under $100 if possible.

Does anybody have a brand/model they like enough to recommend?

Logitech makes some pretty good ones at decent prices.

I got a set of these with my tution and love them. I love the sound quality and my guildies finally say they can hear me clearly over vent.

The main thing in a pair of headsets is not the sound, it's the comfort. Make sure it's comfortable. Sound is important but if it's not comfortable you'll be sore from using them.

I got me a pair of Razer Carcharias Gaming Headset:

They're nicely padded and reasonably priced.

Another consideration is your environment.

I use a pair of Sennheisers (no idea which model and it doesn't say on them) which are very comfortable and they completely cover my ears. This is great in-game but not so good if people try to talk to you or the phone rings.

The other thing we discovered long ago is that some people simply cannot work with a wired headset and it either wrecks the headset or injures them. If you are one of these then maybe wireless should be an option.
