The tone in your original post wasn't that you were there to help people, it was a rant. That's fine, but if you want to pass along some advice at the same time, you could at least put a modicum of effort into making it correct advice. That doesn't mean you have to research every spec of every class to learn the rotation. You could start by posting the rotations and stat priorities for specs that you know, and ask for the other people here to give feedback on the specs that you don't know. THAT would be helpful.

Instead, you come across an an ill-informed pompous *** that doesn't really know what he's talking about, giving bad upgrade advice, bad gemming advice, bad stat priorities (healers, mastery isn't always their best stat), and not understanding the difference between mitigation (armor, shield block, defensive CDs) and avoidance (dodge, parry, miss).

What's also important if you want to rant (which by itself is perfectly fine, everyone feels the need from time to time) please rant in a manner that doesn't give the impression you want to lecture your readers. ;)

You posted a lot of poorly-written "advice", some of which was dead wrong.

Quote:
So it wasn't perfect flame me to death.

There's a difference between being "not quite right" and being completely dead wrong on something. It is like, I don't know, telling someone to turn left when they should turn right and later going "Well, sorry, I'm not perfect" when 30 miles later, you're wondering why you're in some town you've never heard of.

Quote:
I never ONCE proclaimed to be an expert and never passed myself off as one yet all you little punks were " OH YOUR WRONG HERE WTF FLAME BURN FLAME" sorry but what I originally posted would of reduced the problem

What you posted earlier might have reduced the problem a little IF it were worded in a way that people would be receptive to the ideas you're trying to present. The problem, though, is that the pieces of information that were dead wrong (like putting stamina gems on DPS characters)... yeah, someone tries that and later on they get called a noob and ridiculed for doing what YOU told them to do. Then they're like "okay, so I was given bad information, I guess I just won't listen to random people anymore". That's counter-productive.

[quote]So **** off if you don't like it write your own :)

It is quite clear that most of those here wish that you'd take your own advice about the pissing off part. Writing your own? Not so much.

I think its safe to say that most of our posters, even our ones who get kicks out of derailing threads, all routinely provide helpful and beneficial material. You said constructive criticism would be fine...what is "constructive criticism" to you? Its not like you set the tone very well. What in your initial post was "constructive"? If you want to write something to help people, write a guide that actually helps people, based on some semblance of knowledge. Just randomly posting and ranting and flaming people in an angry, disgusted manner doesn't win over anyone.

Honestly, if you really care about helping people, you need to check your attitude. Would you really liked to be "helped" by someone talking like you? If so, I feel very sorry for you.

Well I suppose I can't 100% blame the OP, I know some of the rage I feel when I get into some fail heroic, especially that one where the arcane mage was doing 5k DPS.

Arcane Mage.

You know, that class that can get by hitting 3 buttons? Heck, they can do better damage than that by non-stop casting Arcane Blast.

The Rage I felt that day, well. Let's say there's probably a good thing I was home alone at the time.

Just HOW does one manage to ***** up THE simplest job in the game!?

Stupidity of people astound me.

I suppose I can't really blame the OP if he went into a dungeon and saw epic fail like this and then came to the forums to rant and release some steam.

But the problem is, several posts later, HOURS after it happened, he should have been calmed down enough to edit his OP and/or apologize.

He's done no such thing, so......

Maybe he was using Frostbolt? =x I only say this because when I got my boyfriend to play WoW, he played an Arcane mage, and still used Frostbolt and Firebolt. However, when I caught him doing that I told him to just use AB and AM, and he did a lot better. He never did get into the game much though. I think the highest level he got was about 35.

I didn't pay attention to what he was doing, by the time I realized he was only doing 5K, the vote-to-kick had already been passed, lol.

I did, however, armory his character and nearly fell out of my chair laughing.

He was wearing all 318 greens, except for 2-3 pieces of PvP Blues, and had an avg I-level of 330 (*one* above the requirement).

He didn't even have easily-obtained quested blues, nor did he have Thrall's Cape, nor did he have the 365 Intellect Ring you can get out of the first day of MF Dailies.

But even at that... he should have been doing more than 5k. He must have been casting Frostbolt or something stupid.

Oh wait.

Now that I think about it, I think I did see him throwing down Blizzards at the trash packs.

Maybe he's a Wrath baby that just came back to the game then? We used to spam Blizzard even as Arcane back in Wrath. Now Blizzard is so watered down (ha) that it sucks even if you're a frost mage. In fact, due to Arcane's mastery and the way it works, an Arcane mage with full mana, will do more damage with Blizzard than a Frost mage will. That's ****** up.

at 5k dps I suspect he wouldn't be able to get it. especially if his solo skills matched his rotation. Besides that quest calls for hard stuff - like reading the text.

And as far as the OP is concerned I suspect that what we have here is a classic "Small fish, Big Pond" scenario. No doubt in-game he has a string of admirers who hang on his every morsel of advice, however errogenous.

So after a bad group he comes to this much bigger pond to rant and share his wisdom. Only to find that there are those who not only know more but can explain better and more logically until he is shown to be the arrogant, ignorant, **** that he is.

And after this mild reproach from the learned community - complete with seals and jet propelled snails (nice Darwin Award reference btw) - the poor dear thinks he's been flamed!

Flamed? Good grief not even mildly singed.

I'm sure there are plenty of volunteers for a real demonstration but it would stress our dear admins and we'd not want to do that would we Smiley: smile

That "listen here, ya lil b*tches" part really makes me laugh more than anything the OP has posted in the entire thread.

I mean, really?

Does he think he can scare us from behind his computer wherever it is he lives?

Now, maybe if he were some gangsta armed with knives and guns, heck, I might back away from him slowly and go about my way, but this is the internet, not some dirty ghetto in some slumland where gangstas rule.

You forgot about the part how your pants are down by your knees with some kind of girly-looking loose belt on (that isn't fastened tightly at all).
