i am having problems with my character.
he won't properly 'focus' his head.
he is further away than i wish.
he was fine until today
how can i put him where i want him?

that's the viewing distance, so you can "see" what your character would see, or you can be 3rd person looking at your characters back and seeing their surroundings? For me that's just a roll of the scroll wheel on the mouse but if that doesn't fix it it's under your ESC menu with interface, see what camera angle options there are there.

You can also use Page up and Page down to scroll through some preset viewing distances.

You can also zoom in and out on your character by using the click wheel on your mouse. You may have zoomed in our out on accident doing this.
