Oh hey Mr. Robot! How are you?Follow

NOTE: If this has been posted, I apologize as... to be honest, I was lazy and didn't check lol

So, a friend of mine had pointed me in the direction of this nifty little site (Ask Mr. Robot), and it seems to work pretty well. Dumbing down the what's the best in slot, what enchants, gems, etc I should have and what I should reforge to.

I was seeing if any of you have ever used the site and if so, what do you think of it? Do you think it works well and is pretty accurate for the most part?

So far, it doesn't seem to be wrong, though I'm still playing around with it with my shaman (so I'm not 100% sure), plus I'm glad it's already updated for the new content drops.

-------------------
If people are wanting to play around with it, there's some things you probably will want to know:

~ When you load your character, be sure to click reload just in case it didn't properly cache your toon from the armory.
~ The stuff that's in red is what you currently have in the slot that could be changed
~ If you click the optimize button, it'll highlight things in green that would be the best gems, enchant and reforge for that item.
~ At the bottom, you can change the settings to include pre-raid items only, tier items, and change the stat weights if needed.

I played around with it some myself a while back, and got the impression it was a pretty decent tool. There were things it didn't seem to handle as well as a class+spec dedicated spreadsheet though. Letting you adjust the weighting values was nice. I ended up using the spreadsheet to get values and then plugged those into Mr. Robot for reforging help. Then back and forth and such as things changed.

Good times. Smiley: smile

I used Mr. Robot until last night when, for some ungodly reason, Mr. Robot was loading my DK's gear from 2 weeks ago. No matter how many times I reloaded it, it was still wrong, and I couldn't find all of the correct pieces in the best-in-slit lists. Because of that I tried out www.wowreforge.com and found that I like it more than Mr. Robot.

Thanks for the feedback! That's kind of weird about the DK issue. I'm (obviously) assuming you've logged onto your DK since and logged out?

I'll definitely try out wowreforge though. See how that one is compared to Mr. Robot.

Thanks! =D

Teeheehee.

Before you ask:

a)yes I just quoted myself

and

2)yes, that could have been a better typo, but only if I had gone 1 key further to the left

I don't agree with Mr. Robot about my Bear gear. He wants me to switch out agility enchants for armor and dodge rating enchants.

Mr. Robot is definitely a useful tool, as long as you use your critical thinking skills and don't take it for gospel. It's stat weights for shadow priests are kinda iffy. They aren't completely wrong, they just aren't completely right either. The problem is that for a lot of classes, their stat weights change based on what gear they have. This is true of both shadow priests and frost mages. But the stat weights for Mr. Robot don't change based on your gear. Personally, I'd recommend RAWR over Mr. Robot as long as your class/spec is fully supported for it.

Also, I vastly prefer wowreforge.com for how to reforge your gear. You can edit stat weights, and you can also specify how much of a certain stat you want. Hit for example, is a default with this feature. You can set it to get to exactly 1742, close to 1742 or at least 1742, and it'll tell you how to reforge your gear to get that, which I think is pretty cool.

Yeah I'll definitely take a look at it. I finally am home from work and class, so I have time to relax

Huge fan of Ask Mr Robot.

Been using it for a while now and it's always spot on, and you can tweak if it you have a 'specialty build' ie, haste build for resto druids.

But of course now, I am looking at wowreforge.

Does it take spec into account? It just asked me to kill off 1000 spirit for mastery, which would be pretty painful as a resto druid.

It does take into account spec, yes. But the problem with the tool is that it's about too mechanical. If two stats are close together, it doesn't tell you to reforge them evenly, it tells you to reforge completely into the one that's rated higher, even if it is very slight.

That's why you want to make use of the feature to set a specific amount of a stat you want to keep. So figure out how much spirit you would like to keep on your gear, and then plug that number in at the bottom and see what comes up.
