I think founding a guild will give you two much fun and will get your wife more involved (as women are more interested in communication than achievements and fights :-))

This is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard on this board, but I guess it is pretty typical of most male gamers (thankfully, none that post here regularly). I'm sure our other females will agree that you are wrong though. I'm female and I play this game for progression (working on heroic Majordomo atm) and achievements, not to have a social tea party.

Not only are you right but this is one of the inherent dangers in this scenario. My personal experience is that women are just as goal-oriented as men and if your lifestyles happen (as mine did) to allow her more play time than your self there is a risk that you find yourself left behind.

I'm not going to claim that WoW ruined my marriage but it (and EQ before it) contributed somewhat to growing apart. When you say "I could use some help with this quest" and you get the answer "I'll see if they want me in guild first" you know something is going awry.

That said playing together with someone is one of the best ways of enjoying this (or any other) MMO.

A few words of advice from someone who used to WOW with their wife..

1. Women take the game much more seriously then men.

2. If you woman starts choosing WOW over marriage then stop it immediately don't let it get outta hand

3. Make sure you BOTH leave your WOW problems IN WOW and not take it out of WOW..

4. DO NOT LET ANYONE CALL HER FROM HER GUILD AT 3AM in the MORNING

and 5. IF you have children DO NOT PUT WOW IN-FRONT OF THEM!!!

Take it personal experience from someone who was married to a woman who ended up play 12-16 hours a day who was also neglecting her daughter and urinating her self and blaming it on being 2 months pregnant and always in a foul mood cause of missing loot on raids.. ya she was doing end game heroic raiding and leading but it has cost her marriage and soon her children..

Why didn't you smack her around a bit when you realized she wasn't in the kitchen?

The best way to start would be naked.

Other than that, "it depends".
Is she social and outgoing? Join a guild.
Would she want to rush to max level or take her time? Recruit-a-friend or not.
WOuld she prefer a pvp or pve server?
Would she enjoy BG's or instances? Do them or don't do them.
Would she prefer melee or ranged?

etc. etc.

I've done a lot of leveling with friends with a lot of different class combos. It's really better if at least one of you can do some healing. My favorite toon to level with a friend is elemental shaman (good dps and the best off-spec healer in the game). For melee druids and pallys are pretty useful.

The most important thing is to have fun. :-)

Sounds like she has an addictive personality to me. =/ That really sucks, but women don't take the game anymore seriously than men do. Your wife took it more seriously than you did, that's completely different.

As for the OP, let your wife explore the game, go along with her do some of the things with her that she ends up finding fun. You know her better than anyone else here. Smiley: smile

As for the stereotyping thing: stereotyping is bad, and it needs more kitchen jokes, poor ones ideally.

How does Pigtails have time to raid (especially on more than one toon) when she should be in the kitchen making her man a sammich?

Better?

I don't know, why?

A tree falls and kills a woman. The first thing her husband says is Why the fuck was there a tree in the kitchen?

You guys are terrible. Smiley: tongue My bf and I don't live together anymore due to our financial difficulties, so if he's not over visiting, I don't have to make him any stupid sandwich.

The real question, is your wife into WoW or are you trying to get her into it?

What do you tell a woman with two black eyes?

Nothing, you told her twice already.

Domestic violence isn't funny. Smiley: glare

Also, where've you been lately? I haven't seen you on Proudmoore and when I logged into my DK a couple days ago for the anniversary, I got the return from the mace i sent you, but it was sent by "unknown." Did you transfer off the server or do a name change? =x

As part of the forcible attitude adjustment, Pink does not make me sandwiches.

Multiple dish dinners of various Hunan delicacies, but no sandwiches. That's huNan Maz, not huMan. Thither lies a sure ticket to getting this thread moved to the Asylum.

Anyway, I think you should let her pick any character that she wants. this way, she will have the freedom on the things that she will do in the game.

You let a woman even have an ounce of freedom and it's a slippery slope, my friend.

I keep reading it as 'human'. And I keep wanting to tell you to stop writing 'human' with a capital 'H'.

Well, capitalization can be just as important as punctuation in some situations. If you know any young ladies with a fetish for old bald guys, please remember that I wouldn't mind sex with a great Dane ... but I'll pass on Great Danes. Now, Uncle Jack needs some help. He's stuck on a horse. Would someone please help my uncle, Jack, off his horse?
