I can barely bring myself to run the 5-man thing. Doubling the number of idiots present in the group will help little.

Smiley: nod

Thankfully PvP and solo content is much improved this expansion, or I wouldn't see myself hanging on.

Guys, you should run random 5-mans more. I feel like people don't know where I'm coming from when I'm ranting about 5-mans. Sure, you think you know how bad it is, which is why you proclaim to not do them, but you don't really know. You haven't tasted the sweet bitterness of copper in your mouth as you suffer a mild stroke due to sheer stupidity pouring out from your group members. You haven't had to physically restrain yourself with chains to prevent an acute defenestration. You haven't felt the caressing touch of insanity as you lose faith in all of humanity in a single moment.

You need to experience it. You need to know.

Do it. Do it now.

Some of us don't need to eat the whole pie to know it didn't turn out well. Smiley: wink

I've tasted the pie Mazra. I HAVE TASTED THE PIE!!!

Sometimes I wonder why I keep putting myself through it. I'm a good player. I can pick up on any class i decide to play. I could easily find a guild that would support me in my PVE ventures. But I don't. I just stick with the lovable social guild I landed in when I switched servers.

I'm beginning to think I'm a *********.

you transferred to Aerie Peak and there's a doubt in your mind on that bigdaddy? I have 12 characters across 2 accounts there, and the guilds I've been in well lets see... a guild leader who thinks he can dictate what members go to what runs and he'll "guide" the way turning a 30 minute run into 2 hour crap fest because out...in...out alternating is too complex for him.... to other guilds that "want to raid" and have those that do raid from our guild with friends who then move on because others aren't catching up and then implode... and then the "guild" bulk moved to a sister guild who then decides to change leadership and you log in to find yourself not in a guild so once again bulk move to a sister guild.... blech

No, not double Protein. Try quintuple. I think that's the right word for x5 anyways... The LFR raids will be 25 mans. My guess as to why is to make it easier to carry a few incompetent idiots. There could be another reason though.

10-mans have roughly the same Tank:Healer:DPS ratio as 5-mans (2:2:6/1:1:3). Blizz said said that they're going with 2 tanks for 25-mans in the LFR, so it will be 2:6:17, or 1:3:8 1/2. 3x as many healers and almost 3x as many DPS per tank will, hopefully, shorten queue times for non-tanks in LFR.

Also, they better keep FFB available to all mages. Or at the very least, frost and fire mages. Arcane really doesn't have much use for it.

According to the live Q&A that just finished, FFB will be the level 1 mage spell. At level 10 when we pick our spec, we will then gain access to either AB, Frostbolt or Firebolt. FFB will be able to be used by Fire and Arcane as a slow, and by frost for Brain Freeze procs.

I can appreciate Blizzard needing a business model that caters to players of all types,

They aren't. Blizzard has, over time, moved directly away from the more "hardcore" players to a moderate mean average. One can assume this is because the income from the far larger amount of casual or casual-core players outweighs the income from the dedicated hardcore player base. But this is only assumption of course. But I wouldn't go so far as to call their tactics populist. They'd need to market far more outside of established gamer culture to earn that tile. A few more Super Sunday commercials and it'll be ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!

(edit: The move to easier content in WoW is one aspect that is being touted as being a huge important thing about GW2 by that community. There is, supposedly, a serious "FU" difficulty mode for dungeons that even the developers can't beat yet. But, we'll see if that makes release!)

25 toon PUG raiding makes my *** pucker. I dare not try to imagine the hellish nightmare that such a group could create. Let's start with the 30 minutes of "wtf is 'vent'???? lol" and go from there...

To be fair, there was a time that Blizzard had a voice chat facility that worked in raids and didn't take up /too/ much bandwidth.

Our raid leaders had to make up macros: "go here to download the vent client and then install it", and "these are the server settings" because when we transitioned, every single raid there was one or two people who'd never had to be on vent before.

When was the decent voice chat thing around? I remember raiding during Vanilla, around the time AQ came out and we all used teamspeak back then.
#223 Oct 28 2011 at 7:01 PM Rating: Excellent
WoW Voice Chat was put in with patch 2.2.

It sucks, nobody uses it.

There was an in-game voice thing in Wrath. Thought it still existed.

Also, speaking of Mists of Pandaria, I found this tidbit funny:

Vaneras wrote:
We are absolutely thrilled about adding a race that can be played by both factions, but we are of course aware of the paradox behind pandaren of one faction not being able to communicate with pandaren of the opposite faction. This is a particular situation where we feel that the story must yield to gameplay, because it is our opinion that limited cross-faction communication is a vital part of the World of Warcraft experience, which we feel is not something that should change with the introduction of a neutral or cross-cross faction race.

http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2868760485?page=2#24

Silly language barrier. It's not like people haven't bypassed it since they brought it up anyway. And it only got worse when they allowed cross-faction character creation on PvP servers.

And like someone else wrote in that thread:

Quote:
So, I guess the Pandarens won't be all "Hey, what's uuup!" when they meet each other in combat after all then.

There are a couple of theories up on the EU boards as to why Pandaren can't communicate with each other in MoP. Some suggest that it's a Matrix style blue/red pill thing while others are leaning more to the Pandaren being brainwashed by the Naaru.

Smiley: facepalm

Lore, lol comes to mind.

Come on, Tails... Pandas being brainwashed by giant luminescent wind chimes? Totally plausible.
