I'm playing a PVE server where I seldom see any other players, and /who questions might list one or at most two. Not much problem since I mostly solo anyway or else do random dungeons, but I'e run into a series of quests that "suggest" 1-5 players. Since in the past, me and the pet could handle most "3"s, I tried it and got smeared.

In your opinions, should I try and use LFG to try to find a group, and where, or should I just abandon and move on?

On a sort of related note, I am in a guild, but it seems like few of them are ever around, other than a couple of kids who spend their time chatting about school and their mommies. Since I've reached a point where I'd like to try raiding, I'm thinking I need to find a bigger or more active guild. Is there any best way to do that?

Thanks.

Re the quest: I would try asking in general chat periodically while you do other quests in the zone. If you don't get any bites by the time you are ready to move on, I'd drop just drop it. In the end when it comes down to exp/hr, it's not worth the bother.

Re your guild: This is when the Looking for Guild feature comes into use. I would quit the guild and use it, plus look at your server's forum on battle.net and see who is recruiting. Or post yourself and let people know what you're looking for. If you just want to "try" raiding and don't have much experience, I'd try to get into a casual raiding guild at first so you can test the waters.

Agreed. If you can't find a couple of people to do it with, don't worry so much. If you really want to see the quest line to the end you can always come back in 5-10 levels. 2-man quests are pretty soloable. 3s seem to depend (for me at least) on what the baddie is immune to, and whether or not your class is strong against it. 5s will usually wipe the floor with you.

Yeah the guild finder would be the first thing I'd try. Also you can try pugging into a raid or two to get a taste if you'd like, but the experience is usually better with a guild.

Thanks for the responses. Up until now I've always been stubborn. If I couldn't do one then, I'd wait until I gained a couple of levels, then go back and finish it, experience be damned. A couple of times I've even informally paired with another player, first one to kill the boss waits to help the other het his/her kill. Whats weird about this Shadowmoon Valley stuff is that it seems like EVERY quest string ends up with these 3, 4 or 5 player things - one even started that way. the funny thing is, some are 'soft' enough that I went ahead and did them solo, but others are real bears.

I was pretty sure that's what I needed to do with the guild, but the validation is helpful.

The problem with group quests, especially ones that happened two expansions ago, is that very few are around to do those quests. If you are stuck with BC content I would look for a guild that would help you with that content. If you are just being a completionist (I know, not a word and all that) come back at a later time to do those quests. Sucks, I know, but at least you won't have to worry about hunting down people to help you do those quests.

On a side note: All Outland group quests are being dropped down to single man quests come 4.3 (I'm assuming they will turn the mob in question to non-elites), and all OL dungeons will have quests at the beginning much like vanilla 5mans now-a-days.

Not that it matters: Level 68-80 XP needed for next level is also being lowered.

Edit: XP thing more clearly

Of course they would manage to do that right about the time I'll be leveling my warrior out of that content. Smiley: laugh

Well the solution to that Poldy, is to stop leveling your warrior until 4.3 hits. =x I probably won't get around to leveling my lock again until those changes hit. I'm too deathly sick of Northrend.

I'm leveling alongside some friends who won't wait for me, since those are the only characters they really play right now. Smiley: laugh

I thought that only happened to me (kidding). I'm so tired of overflying Shadowmoon Valley that I feel like writing off a dozen pending quests and flying off into the distance - ANY distance!

Speaking of which, what's with the endless series of repeatable Shattered Sun quests - just an easy way to reap silver and XPs?

I've never even done any quests in Shadowmoon Valley. It's just so dark and ugly there I've never had a desire to do so. In fact, the only times I go there are for completing exploration, doing BT and when I bought my epic flying on my mage back in Wrath because I thought that was the only place to do it.

The ones on the Isle(and the few not on it)? Those used to be the daily quests of choice. You did em for money and rep with that faction, which bought some rather spectacular loot back in the day.
