So, I am ready for Titan to come out. Heck I am ready for ANY news on Titan. I love WoW don't get me wrong. The thing is that I feel like WoW and I are nearing the stage where I leave the warm nest egg and try to make my own way in this big world. I would like to get out of this relationship, but before I do, I want another warm body to lay down with. I am saying that I need a new job, because this old one is just not doing it for me.

Anyone else ready for Titan?

This.

Action/Adventure or a new MMO would be welcome though.

Titan is still a long ways off insofar as we know. In the meantime we can look forward to WoW 4.3, The Old Republic, Diablo 3, and Guild Wars 2.

I do hope/half expect that we'll get some sort of information about Titan at Blizzcon next month. Large events like this need large reveals and they have really nothing else to announce at this point aside from possibly releasing Starcraft 2 DOTA or some other special DLC. Hmm.. or they could use this year to announce what I expect will be the mobile app(s) centered around the Pandaria or Darkmoon Faire IPs (my guess, and IS NOT confirmed).

Then you're out of luck, that's about the only thing we actually know about the game.

Given what we know about the development timeline, and the fact that 4.3 is on the horizon, I fully expect the next expansion pack to be announced this year, even if it's not Pandaria. Keep in mind that they originally had a second quarter 2012 release date in mind, though this late into 2011 I wouldn't be surprised if that was pushed back.

We're not going to be seeing anything Titan-related this year anyways. While Blizzard is under pressure to do something with so many big-name games coming out soon, Titan isn't ready yet. They have confirmed yesterday that Titan will not show up at Blizzcon. (Source)

Wrong. Rumor. Complete rumor. Possibly true, but I can find not one source confirming it. Out of the like 4 total facts Blizzard has said about Titan, the fact that it is a FPSMMO is not one of them. What we do know is that Titan is a new MMO based on a completely new IP (read: universe) with new lore, characters, and completely unrelated to other previous games. It has been in development since 2007, when job listings first when up for a new MMO. The FPS speculation comes into play when you consider that the job listings looked for a "texture artist with a sci-fi/fantasy background."

We know a few of the big names working on it (Tom Chilton), and we know because of the leaked schedule that it is slated for a 4th quarter 2013 release, which means we'll likely start hearing about it in Blizzcon 2012, at the earliest.

tl;dr: Titan will not be at Blizzcon 2011, I predict WoW Expansion Pack IV to be announced then, and we don't know for sure that Titan is a FPS. It's only speculation.

Edit: I know how to format links, I swear.

Well, they have said that it won't be a direct competitor to WoW, so it won't be a traditional MMORPG. That's what's fueled the speculation that Titan is some kind of MMOFPS.

The problem with MMOFPS games is lag. It's already an issue with WoW, especially where pvp is concerned. Make it an FpS and you're going to see a lot of pissed off people.

HPB & LPB have been duking it out since the beginning of online FPS.

If anybody has the manpower and funds to pull it off, it's Blizzard. Not to mention there's gonna be a lot of technological developments in that field by 2013 or 14, which is when the game is expected to come out.
Have you read about what Blizzard did with Diablo 3?
And yes, there's a 99.9% chance of Titan being an MMOFPS, and there's a huge chance of them co-developing the game with Bungie...an MMO and FPS giants combine to form...you guessed it - an archon. Wait, what?

Wish they'd do a StarCraft TPS/FPS game to make up for canceling Ghost.

I got an internship in my old hometown, so I've been staying at my parents' for the last week. I've managed to clock some WoW hours, though, which is more than you can say. Smiley: sly

I may be off here but I'll add my 2c...

I've not seen anything that has actually specified that it's an MMOFPS. I wouldn't play that - I suck enough at old school FPS...

The fact that they say it "won't compete with WoW" might mean that it aims to please an older, more mature gaming crowd (whatever that means). It could mean that it is in a different setting (perhaps sci-fi/steampunk... or maybe even space?). It could mean that it's a different pricing/marketing model. I really hope the rumor is wrong and it's not an MMOFPS.

Meh, the "won't compete with WoW" line is what makes it all so hard to speculate on. Pretty much any game they'll launch will compete with WoW. There are only so many MMO gamers in the world.

World of StarCraft... I'd be all over that ****.

I would actually love an MMOFPS. All of the comments about "I wouldn't play that" is exactly what Blizzard is looking for. Why kill off WoW when they could tap another demographic and market and have BOTH cashing in the money? They aren't looking to kill WoW. They are looking to attract all the people who wouldn't play WoW. Which tends to be people who would play an MMOFPS.

FTFY. Just about the only thing I'm looking forward to in the PC realm :)

Deus Ex:HR DLC this month, maybe Star Wars (I'll see what my friends think and if they all leave WoW, also depends if there's going to be space on the servers for non-preorders). Other than that my time's often focused on doing more volunteer work in meatspace and generally trying to become more fit. The PC games I already have are enough.

I am always leery of Star Wars games. The issue I see with them is that they are so beholden to the movies. I feel like they can't do anything original. I hope that Star Wars: The Old Republic is its own original game that is not too heavily laden with fan service.

I don't know... reading what I just wrote I feel like I am mainly concerned about a game that could be great ending up mediocre because the designers know that folks that are die hard Star Wars fans will buy it no matter what.

The game is taking place long before the story in the movies, so the designers have some room for creativity.

At first glance I was a little disappointed how similar the models look for the different races. Felt like WoW had a lot more variety in shapes and sizes.

I imagine they'll implement more races once the game is up and running. Since the models are already in the game, I wouldn't be surprised if players would be able to play wookiees and mon calamari. Perhaps even the little guys.
