Anyone have any good ideas for a name for a Worgen Mage that has taken a vow of silence, or at the very least never speaks? Something nickname-ish would be fine.

Edited for clearer title.

Basenji - Small dog breed that do not bark. In reality they do make noises, just barking isn't one of them. While not totally silent, the name isn't too bad either.

Does that mean you are going to RP with only silent emotes?

Would that be a dog that might have been familiar to the people of ~19th century London, which Gilnean culture is partially based on?

If the character gets played in game, then I probably would. That said, it's mostly for story purposes.

The breed is central african. They can be seen in ancient Eygptian art. From what little digging I did, they had trouble estabishing the breed in England untill the early 20th century.

Siroracle

"I am Sir Oracle, and when I ope my lips, let no dog bark."

The Merchant of Venice

Don't know if it's available. Many Shakespearean names are already taken.

Good luck and if you're writing a story I'd be interested in reading it.

If you haven't done so already, check out the sticky with my name attached to it. Plenty of good stories in there. And my crappy ones too. Smiley: tongue

You could go with Cistercian.

They are the Christian monastic order with the strictest rules regarding vows of silence.

Or maybe Cisterces to give it a roman flare.

If it's a female toon, I'd be inclined to go with something like "Reticence". Naming girls after virtues was a big thing in Victorian England, which is the natural theme for Worgen. I wanted to name my priest "Clemency", since I figured that the common Faith, Hope, Charity, etc. would be taken (but someone beat me to it).

Unfortunately it's a male, otherwise that would be a great idea. So far I'm leaning towards Basenji and throwing a quick explanation(barkless dog native to Kalimdor or something like that), but I'm not completely set on it, so if someone throws out something even better, I'll go with that.

You could go to the google-translate page, type in 'silence' and see if anything looks good. Smiley: smile

You could always go with the "ironic nickname" angle (liek calling a fat guy Slim, or a short guy Stretch) and name it something that means talkative.

Just throwing it out there.

So, I suppose this means Harpo, Wilie and Genma are out?
