Can they filter out the alcohol and send it back into my blood stream? Like dialysis, except it filters out the blood and returns the alcohol...

Drunk in ten seconds, go!

Merging servers is literally admitting that the game is dying.

Admitting the game is dying is not a bad thing. WoW is dying. The devs should already know this from their deep study into other MMOs before WoW was even released. The question is what will they do to prolong its life.

We're all dying one way or another.

Honestly, I think WoW will still continue to be popular and lead the pack for quite awhile. I think the loss in subscribers will kick Blizzard in the butt and get them going. To say they are simply keeping a dead game on life support attempting to artificially extend its life is inaccurate.

People leaving? Yes. Competition? Good. In the long run it means Blizzard will be pressured into tighter development.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying WoW is the Cindy Crawford of MMO's. It's going to drop dead one day and people will be shocked, "But it looked so young and vibrant". They aren't artificially extending its life, they're simply staying away from red meat and chemically treated foodstuff. What I mean is Blizzard has done their homework, a lot of it. They didn't jump blindly into the MMO market like a lot of the MMOs these days do. They know there's a lot of money but they also know it's not an easy path to maintain. They researched years before WoW was in beta and long before development. They studied other successful MMOs and built theirs on top, learning from others mistakes and watching for signs and symptoms of a dying game and doing preemptive strikes against it.

The game is dying and it is showing signs that other MMOs have shown. That doesn't mean it needs life support, it just needs action before it gets critical. Not admitting it only makes it worse.

There is a way they could merge servers without the stigma of a "server merge".

If they upgrade to dynamic load distributing servers, that could handle 3-4 times the load than their current static load distributing servers. It wouldn't look like a "server merge". It would just be an upgrade that now handles 4 times more people, so we don't need so many servers.

They did a major 'server merge', the new dungeon finder system.

Can that site be right?

It has the Mal'Ganis server with 21,708 Horde and 124 Alliance. No, I did not mistype either number. It's a PvP server, so what would be the point having a 99.4% of the same faction?

The data from that site has always been rough.

It's good for relative comparisons, but not perfect.

So, for example, If you wanted to look for an East Coast Server with More active Horde than Alliance and Non-PVP… Good use of the site.

As a personal example, I was always on smaller servers and found that my biggest problem with WoW was the lack of guild diversity. I wanted a Weekday raid, with semi casual – quasi-serious raiders, but also people on the East Coast (time Zone) who played horde, but raided from about 8pm to 12, but just a few days a week… I used the site to look for a higher population realm on EST Time, with lots of horde – and then, just because I hate Gankers – Non PVP.

The way that I get any sort of info is to just look at the raid progression sites for that particular realm (guildox, for example) and look at how many are alliance and how many are horde and how competitive they are.

I dont know about merging servers, but this site isnt too accurate. Arthas, the server I play on, is listed as having 1.2:1 A:H ratio for level 85 and it's completely wrong. Horde outnumber us on that server for a large margin.

Heh, I jumped to Arthas from Shadowmoon a while back to play with irl friends, but what they didn't tell me was the ridiculous number of horde that were there. I love PVP, but not when it just leads to repeated gang rape at every turn. I took a break shortly before cata, and when I came back it was more or less impossible to lvl through quests anyways. Getting 1shot for more than your max health is fun!

Alas, that's not supposed to come of as a rant. Considering coming back again, but I'm curious: Where are you guys getting the information on A:H ratios and such?
