Methinks you underestimate Maz's argument. It's bloody great!
My toons are generally female, except taurens (I think the males are kinda hot) and blood elves (again hot, but also the females are too skinny for my liking). I also have a male gnome that was meant to be a joint character with a guy who wouldn't play female toons (he hardly played it though). I would probably not make a male draenei or night elf because I don't like the models but I wouldn't object to having male toons of the other races, I think it just makes more sense to me to pick the same gender as me for toons I plan on levelling, makes them feel more like a representation of myself I guess.

Their attack sounds are kinda annoying after awhile to be honest, is the main reason why I wouldn't play an Orc female.

The way I figure it, is this (I'm a guy):
I don't like looking at a guy's butt all day long while I'm playing WoW. I don't go drooling all over female characters, but yet, when I'm presented a choice between a nice curved girl's *** and a guy's ***, there's no contest there.
There are some exceptions, though -- Male Tauren, for one, because they make very good melee classes due to their huge size and strength, and the fact that nearly any 2H weapon you equip on one is larger than an entire blood elf. I also have a male orc hunter, due to the fact orcs are the best hunters (especially back before their racial was nerfed, when I made the character) and that they have a fairly cool gun animation/stance.
Otherwise, I usually go with females. Draenei females look cool as any melee (especially sword-and-board and 2H styles), dwarven girls look cool when dual-wielding axes, and I know people are going to flame me for this one, but worgen girls have some cool dual-wield animations too. Also, I rather enjoy my troll shaman's fisticuffs (yes, she's still using perferators at Level 85). Also on that list, female tauren are cool too, and my human has to be the 2nd coolest alliance race to use sword-and-board.
So, for me, it is more Stance/Weapon/Casting animations than it is anything else though I will very highly agree with the draenei's perfect side figure, from their upper legs, to the torso and then their chest... even if it is a bit unrealistic, it is still just... perfect. If girls looked like that IRL, the human population would probably be like 14 billion instead of 7-ish billion.
