TBC still fun and challenging.Follow

#1 Aug 04 2011 at 11:07 AM Rating: Decent
To spice things up I decided to stop at level 70 and experience TBC again: Karazan, Tempest keep, Black temple, Sunwell plateau. For those who are bored and look for a challenge, you will have your hands full with that expansion. Raids are brutal but fun and loots are not bad also. Take some time off from the race to 85 to experience it with your guild or friends.

Most players never took a peak at these contents.

I started WoW in 2004, but I was in University and didn't start raiding until TBC came out. From starting out as a bottom level raider on the third string group raiding Karazhan to being the main paladin in the #1 Alliance guild on server working on Mu'ru (pre nerf).

From my very first time solo healing Prince when the other healers died at 85% to getting our first Vashj kill with a solo Holy Priest alive who was Smite Spamming, to downing Illidan and finally killing Felmyst after the longest stall in progression ever it really was a solid raid experience.

Ulduar brought the magic back, but nothing has matched that level of work with payoff. Well maybe downing Lich King 25 man HM back when it was current.

I never even got to Karazhan. Not until the next expansion when I went there with someone from the guild. Still one of my favorite dungeons of all time.

Yeah I didn't get to see Kara until a few months ago when Therion took me through there on one of his farm runs back before they nerfed the gold you got out of there. It looks really really cool. I'd agree that the only raid that comes close to matching the awesomeness that is Kara is Ulduar. Although, I'm still enjoying running through the T11 raids every week on alts. Probably helps that I only spent 1 night a week in there before 4.2 hit.

I only got through Karazhan when TBC content was current. Never stepped in the others, only did BT at 80 Smiley: grin Really enjoyed it all though. Karazhan was a great entry raid.

TBC is still my favourite expansion. Karazhan and Mount Hyjal are still my favourite raids of all time.
There just was this really good feeling to it.
I loved that you had to get attuned for the raids.

TBC was fine, until WotLK stalled out and we got extra helpings of it. Some things are fine when they are first served, but become increasing annoying as left overs.

After something like two years of TBC I can't get through 60-68 fast enough. I suppose I may burn out on Cata as others (with a vociferousness rivaling a drunken buddy who just won't stop complaining about his ex) have, but for now if Blizz were to implement a "pay to skip this expansion" feature TBC would be first, second and third on my list.

For leveling, Outland is only 2-3 zones max. Northrend can be very painful.

Yeah, I much prefer Outlands to Northrend, but I'm sure if I had been stuck in TBC for an extra year and a half I'd be sick of it too. Smiley: smile

Yeah, TBC was a long wait. Especially if you were stuck on Black Temple & Hyjal and had no hopes of ever downing Kalecgos.

Yeah but Sunwell at least seems like it was a better distraction than Ruby Sanctum. That only had one boss, while Sunwell had quite a few at least.

And my comment was in regards to Rhode and all other Chinese players having to wait for Blizz to get Wrath up to Chinese standsards. Smiley: rolleyes

My point is if you never got to experiment TBC raiding, just try it with an alt with your guild. The level of intensity will surpass the Fireland .

We have a few of us that do a weekly run through MC for rep. A few more weeks and I'll have my Hydraxian Waterlords rep, and my 50 Exalted achievement.

I enjoy our guild runs through all the old raids.

Kara is, still, the best raid I ever set my foot on. Most fun I ever had with this game. Other raids pale in comparison, unfortunatelly.
Even more, since I was a feral druid and could off tank and dps.
Good times.

I definitely can agree that learning kara was the most fun I've ever had playing this game.

TBC still stands as my favorite expansion as well. I had a close-story to Bodhi with how he started out raiding in TBC (I raided a few times in Vanilla [AQ20 and ZG]), but I really jumped in head-first with TBC. The feeling of progression in craftables, gear/loot, etc made the game so much more rewarding than daily-heroic-of-the-lich-king, etc. Having completed every boss in TBC (pre-wotlk at 70) it was just an excellent trip, with some of the best/most memorable kills that I have experienced in this game.

Just to name a few:
- Our first kill on Leotheras the Blind was with our Spriest [who was the last one alive] SW:Death critted himself and Leo to kill himself and the boss (and it counted!)
- The progression of learning Kael'thas was just perfect, learning each phase and perfecting it and moving on to the next. Needing to use the legendaries, and orchestrate everything in a perfect fashion was phenomenal (my favorite fight by far).
- Our first kill of Vashj was a huge mess, kiting her around with the ground almost completely covered in goo, and then the screams of joy when we finally killed her... mmm.
- Illidan and Kil'Jaeden both get very honorable mentions, both fights had a very epic feeling to them, the phases and again the orchestration of each person being assigned to do things and then to do this 'just in case that person gets picked'.

Almost makes me want to play again... but then not, as wotlk and from what I have read/seen Cata doesn't compare.

I remember back in 2006 I think, a day when I went to a friend's house. He said that WoW, the game which was the legacy of the Warcraft games, had a new expansion pack released from some time and he wanted to play with me, a game he called TBC. I don't remember much from that day, except that I hated flying mounts because I had no skill whatsoever in controling those animals.

QFT

Comparing TBC to Wotlk, the point of view being random people to raid with, I've found that a lot of spoiled kids play the game now which make the experience feel like a can of *********

tl dr : Yeah TBC had the best 25 raids of all time!

Everything Anobix said, pretty much aside from what I've marked out there.

You had a shadow priest commit kamakazi to get your first leotheras kill too!?
#23 Aug 12 2011 at 4:28 PM Rating: Good
Back then, all shadow priests killed themselves with SW:D at least once.

Mine just happened to be on Curator during the evocation phase. Fun times.
#24 Aug 12 2011 at 4:29 PM Rating: Good
Pfft. I still do that. Never had an epic kill like that though. =x

Kamikaze*

I know this because I spent an hour reading about Dark matter > Antimatter > Tsar Bomba > Nuclear bombs > Hiroshima/Nagasaki bombings > Pacific War > Japanese kamikaze pilots on Wikipedia today.

Seriously, I hate that website so much.

xkcd posted somethign interesting a while back. Apperantly, you can take any random Wikipedia article and click the first link that isn't italicized or in brackets/parentheses. Excluding infinite loops that occasionally occur, you will always eventually reach the page for "Philosophy".
