Hey! I played WoW for a little bit a couple years ago (only got to lvl 47 BE Hunter).
I'm starting up again and i'm curious as to what I should do. All advice is welcome.
I like having a lot of people around. So High Population is preferred.
I probably will roll alliance but I could go Horde too.
And as far as class goes i'm really up for anything.
I started playing for a few hours and there are barely any people in the first couple places (new tinkertown and khranos). Is it like this on every realm now that there are so many higher level places? Or just my realm?

No one here can tell you what classes you would like to play or what server you would like to play on. Try a few different classes on different servers to find out one you like.
The starting area's are going to be fairly empty unless your on a server that is recommended for new players. Those servers normally have more people in the low level area's. Try spending some time in one of the major cities to get a rough idea of what the server is like.
As for horde or alliance thats another personal choice. Sites like wowprogress.com can show you the horde to alliance ratio for that server as well has how far guilds in that server have progressed.

Most gameplay, if you aren't raiding, is cross-realm now. And there are decent raiding guilds on most, if not all, high-pop servers. Dalaran has served me well in the past, though.

Ok here's a better question. I'll probably mostly solo. Not as much PvP as solo and raid.....so...class suggestions?
Ok here's a better answer. No one here can tell you what classes you would like to play, try a few different classes and see which one you like. World of Warcraft is very alt friendly so even if you get one up close to the level cap and decide that "I hate wearing cloth" you can start up a new character and gain levels rather quickly.
I am sorry if I come across as grumpy but it is a decision only you can make since you are the only person that is going to be playing that character. Good luck and have fun.
Edit: If you want to see a certain class in a raid scenario, head to Youtube and search "baleroc <insert class> pov". It is essentially a Patchwerk-esque fight that will get you familiar with how that class will look. Beth'tilac is a fight with a bit more chaotic elements to it.

The thing about WoW is that they are very solo friendly when it comes to class design. Every class can solo to the cap, easily.
So really, it's just whatever class you like the most. Experiment. Shop around. If you don't like a class, change. It's that easy.

One of the advantages of playing on Chinese servers, so many puns are mine for the taking. Yes, I am planning a worgen, Zevon. Now all I need to do is find pina coladas. For now, Igor is enjoying his top hat.

What a great start to Wednesday! On topic, if you want to start meeting people at lower levels, start using the Dungeon Finder. It takes a few minutes to find a group and, most of the time, it tries grouping you up with people from your own server. If that's your first character on that server it works much better to meet people than standing in a major city spamming "Lvl XX <insert class> Looking for Guild". You don't find many people in low level zones because it take 20 minutes to level past it.
As far as what class, try them all. It doesn't take that long at all to get to 20, and by then you should know whether you like the class mechanics or not.
