After playing WoW for nearly 4 years you would think I'd have gotten used to douchebags in groups. Nothing new about the prick popping off about how awesome they are. However, it seems an ever popular trend to go out of your way to be offensive these days when in randoms. So many people act like they are the experts about everything in the game and everyone else is a "noob". As if they were born with epics on.

I'm very patient as I play my healer when I get grouped with barely geared tanks that are as soft as warm butter in za or people who maybe have never seen a toxic link before in zg. On my hunter I typically am out dpsing the rest of the party by 2-3k easilly but I'm not ragging the guy who is running it for the first time. I mean seriously people. Maybe sometimes excercise a little more tact or patience before going off on someone over a game thats meant to be fun.

I just spent 2 hours healing 3 people who had never been to ZG before. I allmost just left in the beginning because I didn't even need any gear from there but figured I'd help out anyways. Some of them got thier first cata epics and were happy. Was it a total waste of my time? Maybe. Was it fun. Yes.

Very next run on my 3rd alt I get chewed out for having a piece on that wasn't gemmed and called a total newb fail scrub that should totally get out and fail more because my dk (81) is using a 2 hander instead of dual wield... really?!

I'm not saying to coddle everybody. I mean it is your time to do whatever you want but maybe be considerate while gaming. Believe it or not, everyone was a noob once and people make mistakes.

Well whoever called you a newb fail scrub for having a 2-hander on your DK while you're still leveling is the moron. Unless you aren't specced for that of course. =x If you're specced for 2-hander frost, then there's certainly nothing wrong with that. I don't know how viable it is at 85, but for leveling it's perfectly fine. That's what I've been doing for my DK and I kill sh*t really fast.

But yeah, people are ****** Internet @#%^wad theory and all that. Most of the time I have decent luck in LFD groups, but there's always people who get off on being jerks.

A couple weeks ago I was doing BRC trying to get my trinket out of there on my priest, and I had 3 people in the group that were just total jerks. They criticized the tank and said he was a crappy tank (he wasn't great, but it's not like we were in a troll dungeon), and they gave me **** too. Kept saying I was bad and all that, and that I should be doing better dps with my gear. I did 20 something k on the forge boss, and 14-18k on the other bosses, but my dps was bad. I got sweet revenge though, as the shaman in the group rolled need against me for the trinket and I won. They got really pissed too. Although ironically enough I got Theralion's Mirror that same night, so it was kind of a waste. But still, I got sweet satisfaction from that.

You know, I don't think that the majority of people here, at least the regulars, are your target audience for this.

I mean, after all, we're all amazing players, incredibly considerate, and all around good looking people.

I usually wait for people to fail first before judging them, even then I'm a pretty patient person with stuff. Trolling is best left for the gaming forums anyway; not going to chew out someone in a 5-man PuG of all places. Smiley: oyvey

Slightly relevant side note: Best healer I ever worked with was usually the worst geared in the group. He'd nearly always pass on stuff if others wanted it. To be honest though, he really didn't need it.

Also, rate ups for the best rant yet this week. Smiley: nod

We are also brilliant, you forgot to add that. Probably because we are extremely humble as well.

I think the thing I like least about jerks in WoW is that threy make me feel less inclined to be a nice person to random players.

Take for example my most recent alt to hit level cap. She just got to 346 avg ilvl meaning that I can queue for the troll instances. She doesn't have that in either dps or healing kit though and I know I wouldn't be able to heal those dungeons (my 82k mana pool would not go very far I feel). But I find myself thinking "why shouldn't I try as dps?", sure I won't be able to pull 12-15k but I know the fights and my gear is correctly gemmed and enchanted. I find myself wondering why I should be running normal heroics (often skipping bosses that drop anything I need) when I end up grouped with people in ungemmed, unenchanted, green gear with the wrong stats for their role who are pulling <8k dps overall when I run the troll places on my other toons?

So whilst the Angel is sitting on my shoulder telling me to wait until I'm more ready the little Devil is saying that there are worse people out there than me so why not give it a try.

As for people spouting negative comments, I have in my mind a reasonable expectation of my performance. As long as I feel I am doing my job to the best of my ability I don't pay attention to anyone saying that I'm rubbish simply because I'm not in line with their (overexagerated) expectations. If I'm doing a bad job I recognise that as well and will take advice to heart (on the rare occasions people give advice rather than screaming obscenities) and will try to improve my gear/play before going into that situation again. But that's probably because I'm an amazing player, incredibly considerate, brilliant and good looking. Also, humble.

I have a nice spot on my ignore list for anyone who is particularly rude or who insists that everyone else is responsible for their mistakes.

It's pretty easy for me to avoid looking at the chat box. When I run on some of my alts I know I'm not doing the best dps because I don't have the gear or maybe lack some of the skills of playing that class but as long as I'm not standing in fire and doing something stupid and maintaining decent damage then I don't worry about what other people think.

Oddly enough i have a healer and hunter as well!

Anyways, in response to your original post

To solve your problem, just 'miss' a few heals on the guy that's being a jerk and he'll either shut up or leave.

Bottom line when it comes to games is this:

It's competitive in certain gear set ups outside of BiS where it theoretically falls behind dual-wield in throughput simulations.

As to the OP: Ignore the asshats. Life is too short to waste time on them.

To the asshats: Stop being an asshat, asshat.

In today's world people feel fearless behind the keyboard because they are anonymous. It's a horrible trend of people feeling they can say what they want to whomever they want just because its typed and sent instead of spoken. If people would talk to people on the internet the same way we do in person it would be a far better place.

Now am I always the nicest, most respectful person every time I type something? No, but neither am I in person. No one is perfect, but if they took the split second it takes to remind themselves they are indeed talking to another human being, the world (of warcraft) could be a far more civil place.

I know what an asshat is, but while questing earlier today I got called an *** warrior, by a NPC. Is that a new spec or something?

I don't run things with anyone but guildies anymore (and right now I'm taking a chill until 4.2).

People in game have progressively gotten worse over the years. We'll be facerolling an instance when suddenly some idiot goes off on someone for their DPS. Come on now. Really? We're not even struggling. Its so easy I'm falling asleep healing it. Just shut up.

A lot of people (not all) who play WoW fail at life. They use the Internet as a means to boost their truly damaged real life. World of Warcraft fits into that frame of mind. Get carried through and get better gear and suddenly you become a better human being. Now they have something to hold over everyone like people hold over in their RL.

Most of these losers wouldn't dare try acting like that in person. I know some of them I'd flat out deck if they tried (and I'm a rather diplomatic person IRL).

I must be in a different Dungeon Finder queue, because I've run tons of instances in the last couple weeks and I've only had 1 bad group and 1 bad individual. The first was a 3-member guild group apparently trying to boost their healer to getting some actual healing gear. He was a pally with sub-60k mp and was OOMing on trash, but his 2 DPS buddies refused to use CC. I was tanking on my warrior, so there wasn't much I could do except plow into stuff and kill it quickly. They finally quit after we wiped on the dragon boss with the changing wind directions and the tornadoes.

The other was a hunter that was hanging out in the back of the group and only killing bosses all the way through heroic SFK. I waited until right before the last boss to post an overall Recount (he had 2nd-highest DPS, but was dead-last on total damage done) and started a vote-kick. No surprise, it passed.

Which might suggest caution about being a Tauren asshat...?

Both are from the Bovinae subfamily, and Taurens are described as "large, muscular humanoids and bovine in appearance, complete with hooves and horns". So pretty close. ;)
