Reinstalling addons -- reccommended source?Follow

#1 Jun 11 2011 at 6:58 PM Rating: Good
I have a new (to me) computer, and my old one won't boot anymore and the HD is IDE while the new one is SATA so I'm left reinstalling my addons manually. I used Curse Client to manage things before, and I figure since I'm starting anew I may as well check the current opinion on programs like that or WoWMatrix. Any of them work particularly well? Any to avoid? Is there a good reason to do things by hand?

I use Curse myself.
If you're a safety FREAK, do it by hand, so you can make sure the .zip doesn't have any .exe files or anything like that.
I've heard good things about Wowmatrix, or something similar to that, but there's just no reason for me to switch.
Edit: I passed 3K posts? Lame, and I didn't even make a pandering ding post!

Yeah, I ended up going with Curse and I think I have everything tweaked the way I want, though raid boxes probably aren't. Thanks.

I do have one thing and I'm trying to figure out which addon is doing it; there's a yellow tab under my minimap and it seems to have all my auctioneer addons as well as some of the general LDB ones. Where do I get rid of this?

EDIT: It was Slidebar, came bundled with Auctioneer.

That sounds like SlideBar, which is installed with the Auctioneer suite I believe. I just disable it on the addons screen cause it's annoying. I've never had any problems doing it like that.

Yep, slidebar is an annoying little *******. Also, if you went with Dominos for your bar addon, beware that if you don't manually make each bar 'invisible' you can sometimes get your clicker 'stuck' in bars around the screen, even with no icons.

I use Docking Station for my bars. Is there any Broker equipment manager that doesn't use ctrl-click to delete sets? That's my push to talk key.

Broker equipment manager? I'm oldschool and still use Outfitter.
