Need Info on BC and Vanilla RaidsFollow

#1 Jun 10 2011 at 8:04 PM Rating: Decent
I would like info on running BC 25-man and Vanilla 40-man Raids with a small # of 85's. Our purpose is getting exalted with raid factions. A friend and I were able to do Kara to exalted with an almost mediocre Bear Tank and a pretty good Shadow Priest fwiw. I do not expect to be able to do that on any BC Raid and I want to see how much DPS we need to add. The Vanilla stuff seems like it might be pretty simple but then again maybe not. It certainly costs nothing to check it out. We thank you for your support! :)

Well my bear's solo'd Tempest Keep up to Kael, and Hyjal's allegedly soloable though I only tried once and the first boss is a pain (but with a healer it'd be fine, chain iceblocks). SSC requires at least 2 people for Vashj's mechanic, probably more to get good coverage, 3-4 or so. I ran Black Temple with 3 people.

As for classic Molten Core's totally soloable, BWL has some forced multiplayer mechanics in the first two bosses (at least two guys for the first one, Vael kills one tank every 45 seconds). AQ20's probably soloable (my hunter got close back when she trapped Buru and Ayamiss), AQ40 needs a few people for Twin Emps (though I hear there's a glitch to only pull one, dunno what it entails) and C'Thun requires at least two people unless you glitch things.

Also one of AQ's bosses needs frost damage, although that one could be skipped.

You make it sound like you don't think Kara is a BC raid. Smiley: tongue It totally is. I know several people who solo Kara on a fairly regular basis, at least up to chess. It can be kind of tricky to do chess by yourself, but it can be done. AQ 40 is definitely doable with at least 3 people, I recently did it with two guildies a couple weeks ago. We wiped once on C'thun because they didn't explain the fight to me beforehand and when I got sucked into his stomach I just kinda stood there not realizing I had to get out or how to get out. Tried to heal myself through it, but didn't work very well lol. We also struggled a bit on the dude that needs frost magic attacks, because the three of us were a shadow priest, a prot pally and frost DK. I'm guessing Therion's frost attacks didn't count as frost magic attacks. =x We did get him down eventually, it just took us about 10 minutes or so.

Most of the other BC raids should be doable with five people or less though. That's about what we usually have (sometimes more) on our achievement runs on Sundays.

If you decide to go back, pick up a frost based wand for your SP, makes life easier. Frost oil and a ilvl 165 or lower weapon for your pally and DK might help too.

Oh I understand that Kara is a BC raid alright but its a 10 man raid. All the rest are 25 and I was not going to assume much of anything as yet. Part of my hesitation is an experience in SSC some months back helping a friend who was working on Salty. We skipped Boss #1. My friend (Hunter) was already fishing for the LB when I hit the water. I (Boomkin) was swarmed and destroyed by the piranha <sic> that let him pass by freely before I could do squat. The second try was better but I still got nailed. That experience convinced me that, bad bear that I am, that that was still better than the alternative. It was also when I discovered that Blizz had nerfed my Panzerkin's mitigation into oblivion.
