The guild I've been in for the past couple of years recently folded. Most people just stopped playing and the very few of us that were still around left the guild and went our separate ways.
Anyone have any advice on how to go about blindly finding a new guild? In the past I've joined guilds because I was invited to but I don't actually know many people on my own server any more (I blame the dungeon finder for that.) I've never been in a situation where I have to actively go looking before. Do I have any real options other than playing roulette with trade chat or the new guild finder?

Start with the guild finder. It's a good stepping point. From there then do interviews, not just where they interview you but you interview them. Find a guild that's got the same ideas and direction you want.

Also make sure they do the stuff you like to do when you are able to be available.

That's what I would suggest too. I haven't looked into the new guild finder at all, so I don't know how helpful it is. If I was in your situation, I'd go to the O-boards first.
If you are into raid and care about progress, I would say check wowprogress. There's a recruiting search there and it's quite correct. I used it before submiting an application to my new guild and server transfering.
If you do not, I would say check the o-boards or the new guild ui thing, since server transfering for someone who is not looking for progress is probably out of question.

O-boards. You may have to change servers to find the perfect guild.
From playing long enough I kind of know what guilds have good/bad reputations, which ones are progressing/struggling can be found from wowprogress. Frankly I would try and find some of the guilds websites and take a look at them see what they like to do. Look at their forums and see how they treat people and such. You can always ask to chat with an officer in game.
I say hijack the nearest guild and make your own personal army!

For raiding.
O-boards, MMO Champ recruit forums, Wowprogress.com. Talk to people on server as well, hell even people you liked playing with who are moving on to new guilds might be able to help.
Make sure their raid times fit your availability, make sure they are around your level of play (if you have never finished a dungeon while it is current you might not want to app to the top 100 guild on your server). Poke around and narrow it down to a few choices, then just contact GM/Officers and ask any questions you might have.
Then complete your application, whatever their requirements are whether that is a App on their website, a interview over vent or just blind invites.

- Regem, Re-enchant, respec. It is a good opportunity to polish your character off.
- Have reasonable expectations. It's ok to move up in skill, but if you have little raiding experience don't app for the top guild on the server.

Yeah, this is one of the few times the O-boards are actually a good thing to post on. Nothing beats realm forums in this aspect (assuming you aren't going to server transfer, at least). Especially since most guilds looking to recruit will make a post there.
