I know that using the DF is a risky, and potentially, maddening proposition. Lately, I've tried taking it a lot less seriously, and have tried to lighten up the mood in randoms by typing some really off the wall crap into party chat.

For example:

Warlock (83) : "I like purple" ( for some reason, most of my Warlocks gear is purple ).

Warlock : "I think this character may be the artist formerly known as Prince, discombobulated into WoW".

DK ( 85 tank): "Good Evening/Afternoon/Morning, I'll be your tank today. My name is Albert, and I like to dance on the beach in moonlight, naked".

Paladin (85 tank/heals): "Hello, welcome to the Party of Light. I will be your guide through the intricacies of the Light religion".

Mage (85) : "Hi! Me like Fire! Lots and lots of Fire! Huh? What do you mean I can't burn that?!" ( While targeting the healer).

Rogue (85) : " Greetings! I hope you brought lots of valuable crap that I can steal and then blame the Hunter!".

Druid (85 tank, work in progress) : " Today is Earth Day, we will not harm any earth creatures, I forbid it!".

I've had mixed results, some people get it, and the run goes along quite smoothly, with people joking, laughing and generally enjoying themselves. However, it has got me kicked twice....spoilsports.

Anyone else tried the lighter side?

Whenever I do instances along with my girl, we always say crazy stuff.
It's normally completely random, so I can't come up with any SPECIFIC examples, but if there's a run where they AREN'T doubting my sanity, I'm not doing it right.

85 Resto Shaman: Hell all. I'll be your healer on this run. Please keep all arms and legs inside the blue hot tub. It will ease your tense muscles from fighting.

Usually that will get a couple people going. Sometimes I tell the tank if he's not going to play nice with the mobs I'm going to let the rogue/druid/dk/pally tank. (Actually did that on Venoxis one run, dumb tank sat in the maze and took the spit, Rogue tanked him from about 80%)

I can't sit in a computer chair for extended periods of time without my THC intake, so I always make it clear that I'm stoned if I'm healing / tanking. If the group doesn't like it, I'm happy to bow out. If they don't care, they're wise, as we all know stoned healers are the best healers. Tanks... well, press the aoe buttons and stay out of crap, that's easy enough.

When I do a Guild Run of 3+ we make it a point to always confuse the hell out of the rest of the group.

We've pretended to be 5th graders, and talk explicitly about "Mrs. Blackburn's chalkboard" and if Jacob's dad said it was ok to spend the night.

We've talked in all codes. We've FORCED the other members in group to only communicate through Star Wars quotes. We've typed out everything in PChat and left out all verbs.

All caps. All questions. Saying your own name before you say something as if to address it to yourself.

The list goes on. All the while, of course, we're in Vent laughing our asses off as if this is the funniest thing we've ever done - but it does the job of lightening the group up well.

@ jay

That reminds me....about 3 years ago a good buddy of mine showed up in town. We of course threw all caution to the wind, and got stinking high ( a little background, I live in Mendocino County, CA., currently considered the mary-jane capital of quality smoke )then decided to play WoW.

It was quite possibly the most fun dungeon run I've done. We laughed at the groups antics ( and are own), generally having a great time. Also finished, if I remember correctly, Shadow Labs in record time ( I was tanking, he was healing ), there is something about playing WoW higher than a Georgia pine that is terribly amusing.

Yeah, in guild groups I usually have a pretty good time. One time towards the beginning of the expansion there were four of us and a goblin dk or warrior, the mage from our guild kept hitting on him and saying very sexual things, until finally the goblin asked "Are you a girl irl?" I responded with "He's not, but I am. =x" Thankfully he took it in good stride. I did feel kind of bad for him, even though it was really funny.

And just last night me and one of my guildies who is from Australia were in a troll dungeon, and she emoted something naughty while have a cat non-combat pet out, about stroking it. Smiley: grin The other people in the group liked that of course, so I egged it on with saying "And sometimes I help her!" So then of course they wanted to know if we were both girls, which we affirmed. Followed by "Do you know each other irl?" I laughed and replied "No, we do this over vent!" Her comment was "Yeah, we've got webcams set up and everything!" It was hilarious.

I try to not talk and communicate only via emotes.

Make coordinating CC fun.

Strangely it works for the most part.
