Foundest Wow MomentsFollow

#1 Jun 01 2011 at 3:05 PM Rating: Good
I recently quit WoW (Or in other words I'm taking a break till after finals) and I've been thinking about those moments that makes WoW such a memorable game to me.

My very first toon on my 14 day trail (which took 7 days to download) was a Troll Mage. I had killed my fair share of Quilboar and Harpies, and had been given the quest to go to see Thrall. The second I walked through the big gates of Org, my eyes got so huge. I had never seen such a city as large as it in a video game. It just seemed to go on and on for ever, I could never imagine remembering where anything was (only took half a year tongue)

One of the weirder moments to remember, to me it just reminds me of the second summer of playing in a whole. On the one year anniversary of my WoW playing, I made a Blood elf Priest, and started to level it. After passing my friend who I was "leveling with" I found myself in Ashenvale to turn in some marks. With Price is Right of all things on the TV, my normal lunch of Mac and Cheese in my hand, I look at the screen and see myself on my hard earned Artic Wolf, standing on one of the small bridges, angled just right where I could see the trees in the back. I wish I screen shoted that moment, because it really was how my summer was. Spending all my time nerding out to WoW, eatting Mac and Cheese everyday for lunch, while watching the Price is Right. To some that may seem like a terrible summer, but at the time, it was the best summer ever.

So what's your guys' most memorable moments in WoW?

Side Note: What happen to these forums? I've never seen so many grayed out posts.

I tried, but I honestly couldn't really locate any moments in WoW that were particularly memorable. I guess the generic first flying mount will have to do to complete this subtle post.

We were accosted by stupid college undergrad studies/surveys. We don't tend to like that. =x

Not that it makes much difference now, but for future reference it's usually a good idea to download the game and THEN sign up for a trial. That way you actually get it for the amount of time you are supposed to. Smiley: schooled

Yeah.....I figured that out. Sad part is I did it again when I got the 7 day free re-sub they gave out around patch 4.1. I only lost 1 day of download this time, but seriously, you'd think I'd learn.

For me, It would be my 1st 10 man nax hot luck run - got the safety dance achivement, and won all the gear i needed for my drooid, and cleared out the place all in one fell swoop.. not too shabby for a 1st raid run ;)

it's closely followed by dinging 60 in vanilla / getting birdy form ;)

It's fondest, not foundest. :P

Anywho mine would be Karazhan runs on my druid, healing it with 2-4 frame rate. :l I think the only reason I enjoyed it was due to how it was my first actual raid. I also think it was due to that experience that I could not stand playing as a resto druid for the rest of my WoW career.

Huh... maybe that's why I don't want to play my mage! I had the same issue all throughout Wrath. Smiley: frown

Yogg+1 down after three weeks on him. After some key members of my guild left I assembled a 10 man team to get us the rusted proto which we did much to my surprise I must say since this was our "other" raid team at the time.

Also getting my lvl 70 hunter, my 1st toon, the Don Santos famous hunting riffle (or something like that) which was his first purple and for which I had to borrow gold from some friends.

When I located the last item for the aquatic form quest, for sure the foundest WoW moment ever.

Yes, it used to be a quest. It was annoying, far and deadly for night elves to go everywhere required at low levels.

My first raid ever was Karazhan.
Nothing wrong with that, but it was also my first ever guild.
Nothing wrong with that either, but the thing is that that guild was all-swedish guild (I don't know what I was doing there) and they all spoke swedish.
I know very little swedish and that's only because swedish language is mandatory in schools here.
We got up to like Maiden of virtue, and then called it for the night as it was late.
Shortly afterwards I quit that guild and joined another one, where I still am up to this date, and we have had lots of fun and memorable raids with those guys and all of my best memories from WoW are the raids and late night heroics with those guys.

I have lots of really great memories from WoW, but it's not because of the game itself, it's because of the people I play the game with.

I have fond memories of Karazhan. It was a fun time for our guild. The first time we heard "Run away little girl" and somebody got turned into little red riding hood, our vent exploded with laughter.

My best memories are probably just enjoying raiding with my guild. Back in wrath when we could do 10 and 25's our 10's were just a close knit group and we just had a lot of fun playing together and talking through vent heckling and getting achievements. That's probably been the best part for me.

First time through the dark portal. Hellfire just felt so epic when I reached the other side.

I would have to say the whole quest line on my Warlock for the Dread steed.
That was so much fun and broke the bank lol.

Back then it was a nice chunk of gold.

Getting the hellish shield to drop in Halls of Reflection on my pally. And winning it from the Fury Warrior, Holy pally, both of whom rolled on it; then cackling gleefully as they both dropped group after some nasty words in my general direction.

Probably even more memorable would be the first time I tanked Strat Dead Side on my Warrior. This was Vanilla, mind you. Group arrives, and we spend 2 hours battling Horde to enter. Get in, and no one warns my poor tank about the damn Gargoyles, and their fun little fear bombing gimmick. Great times.

40 man raid in Duskwood fighting Emeriss one of The Dragons of Nightmare (a.k.a. the Emerald Dragons). These fights were always Epic.

-Exploring the woods on my first toon in Nordrassil and thinking the music was beautiful. (Still do)

-The opening of the AQ gate on my vanilla server. Hey thats a huge beetle! *punt 200 yards splat.

-The events leading up to BC when giant demon guys were attacking Stormwind and leaving trails of bones in their wake.

-Karazan. nuff said.

-Exploring the map in Howling Fjords and coming up to the canyon and vyrkrul castle in the middle the first time. Woah.

-Flying into the Icecrown zone for the first time.

-Wrathgate

-All of Uldum the first time.

The rest of the newer stuff still needs time to grow a nostalgia patina. :)

Completing the warlock dread steed quest after months of working on it at level 60.

Summoning the warlock's dread lord (or whatever the level 60 demon spell was) pet for the first time, getting it charmed, and then getting wasted by it when charm broke at the worst possible time. Wait, that's a fond moment?

The first time our little guild cleared Upper Blackrock Spires with our crummy gear and only 8 people after trying several times to figure out the pulls and bosses (we refused to look up strats on bosses). This is back in vanilla of course.

Going on my first real 40-man raid in Molten Core as a pickup (with my warlock). Hours of my life I'll never get back and have nothing to show for. Still, it made me appreciate what others had to go through in order to clear it (I never did).

Winning my first 2v2 arena game as my warlock with my tauren hunter friend. It took us a while to win one, but we finally did.

Exploring Felwood at level 20ish and getting left for dead by my best friend so he could save his own hide. He looked back while running to watch a diseased bear maul me. The ******* would probably do the same to me in real life.

still my best bud though

I was discussing this matter with some WOW friends some weeks/couple months ago, and after analising my experience, I have to say that downing Kael'thas is my second most cherished memory. My fondest remembrance is when my guild killed Mother Sharaz first time. I don't remember why but a fight so challenging like that ( at least for me) I haven't encountered yet. ( I also won the T6 shoulders then, I guess that helps).

First time beating the timed baron run in ud strat back in vanilla. Two arms warriors, two enhancement shaman, and my priest healing. Back then most folks didn't think you could pull it off without mages and locks. I remember before we started the general consensus was just keep wind fury up and we got this.

My fondest moment was somewhat early on into the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. My guild was a mid-range contender in regards of progression on Thrall at the time and we were doing a Sartharion 25 man with three drakes up. It was mostly guild with a few outside PUGs that were either former guild members or close friends otherwise. I was playing feral druid as dps and suddenly our main tank took a flame breath and fire wall to the face with like 10% or so left. Our off tanks occupied with adds or portal mobs at the time there was nobody else to try and save us from the wipe except me. I went bear, the healers focused on me and I managed to hold the beast for the remainder of the fight. It was pretty epic.

Another fond moment takes place before the first. In a nutshell my friend and I (he was GM then, I was an officer) got into a huge PvP/e-peen swinging match that stretched from Stormwind to Ironforge. Two alliance guys were MCing and healing to full a tauren warrior who was then rampaging through town. We tried to kill him, saw they were not letting him die and proceeded to verbally assault them. They shouted back and the mudflinging and attempts to kill the warrior went on for like 3 hours. My friend would end up passing GM to me, quitting, and all those guys we were shouting at would end up in my guild as officers a year later. There's a lot in between to make that ironic situation come to pass :-P
