Hello, this is not a thread where you can role play. I'm making this thread to teach people who are interesting in role playing with their characters (assuming anyone on this site does any of that, I dunno...) how to role play without twisting the lore.

I think it's more a guideline to how to role play without making serious role players think that you're an idiot. Heheh

I think I have read these tips (or some really similar to them) before though not for quite a while.

A pregnant warlock?....I've heard of someone roleplaying as a teenage night elf born in darnassus and someone else roleplaying that her blood elf hunter character is actually a druid, and to "shapeshift" she would use "eyes of the beast" to control her pet.

Derka, derka, derka....

Pfft. That song is awesome. It was written by the woman who composed the Plants vs. Zombies music.

But yeah, blood elf druids would be awesome. IMO, if Night Elves can be mages again, why can't Blood Elves be druids?

While I know a fair amount about lore, I don't know everything... what's wrong with someone RPing a teenage night elf who was born in Darnassus? Is it that Darnassus was only built shortly before WoW was released time-wise or something?
#32REDACTED, Posted: May 30 2011 at 6:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Should we really open this can of worms? Blood elves would just force nature to their will. If blood elves actually want to start being druids, they need to put an end to the spell that puts eversong woodsin a state of endless autumn. It's twisting nature, and that's something that goes against druidism.

It doesn't really seem to me like the blood elves are having issues with the magic addiction anymore though. Granted that could be more due to blood elves not really having much of a storyline right now. Only places I've seen in the revamped zones with Blood Elf camps are archaeological in nature and competing with dwarves for relics.

Yeah, that was a bad example since that particular npc and quest had been there since Vanilla when High Elves/Blood Elves were scarce. You keep saying that blood elves don't seem to care for nature. What about trolls? I've never seen any evidence that they cared for nature much, but Blizz had them be druids anyways.

Also, keep in mind that the BE area is kept in the past. Or at least, that's Blizz's excuse for not updating BE and Draenei cities and starting areas with Cataclysm. I don't see how it would have been that much more effort to update 4 other zones, but oh well. They're in a worm hole time dimension thing or something, so any NPC's or quests you can think of from those two zones would be bad examples as well.

But I think debating with you about this is like beating a dead horse anyways, since you're the dude that hates Horde anyways.

We are NOT just pawns in the war. Our characters are so highly ranked and coveted, we're sent in for political bartering, regicide, espionage, the works.
To add further to this, the game world itself recognizes the achievements of your characters. WotLK wasn't too far back. As a member of the Alliance, remember the first time you went to Borean Tundra? Long line of recruits, yet you get sent straight to the front of the line because you're already a battle proven hero.

For in game roleplaying, I agree with you here. For in game roleplaying, be powerful, be influential, but don't go overboard.

DerpLord wrote:
Rule #3. Do not bend lore or add things that are not part of the lore to suit your roleplay characters. As in, don't make your character the offspring of a human and a dragon. It can't happen lore wise, so don't do it.
http://www.wowpedia.org/Hybrid_race

# Dragonspawn - reptile/dragon/human
# Drakonid - humanoid/dragon; Possibly half human.[8]

Hybrids seem to exist. Just because we haven't seen any offspring, doesn't mean it can't happen.

DerpLord wrote:
Also, don't associate your character with any major lore characters. Like, don't say one of your characters is the secret child of Sylvanas. Seriously. Blizzard makes the lore, you role play accordingly to that lore.
You should amend this. Don't associate your character too closely to major lore characters. When you're roleplaying with other folks, sure, being Sylvanas' kid would make you look silly. But to say that your character is somewhat distantly related(like maybe the kid of one of her cousins or something), well then that's much more reasonable.

DerpLord wrote:
Rule #4. Your character is not a vampire. He/She will never be a vampire. So don't do it.
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet, and a vampire by any other name is still a vampire.

DerpLord wrote:
#1. Your characters can be elite soldiers. Your character is an adventurer. Therefore, you are, rank wise, comparable to a storm trooper. Or any normal soldier.
If the resolution of even a single zone's quest lines can be attributed to your character, and I suggest that they can, you are WAY more than an "elite soldier". You're a god damned hero, and nothing says you can't RP as one. Sure, you may not be the equivalent of an Illidan, or a Jaina Proudmoore, a Thrall or a Grom Hellscream, but you're not some simple soldier.

This thread brought out som nostalgia from when I played on a RP server.

I remember the Orc starting area. Some player named Dwarfpriest was roleplaying the crap out of General chat and /say. Apparently, his story was that he used to be a Dwarf Priest, hence the name, but then he died and the Horde resurrected him as an Undead Orc Shaman...

Man, that guy was epic in the bad way. He'd break character while roleplaying to emphasize something, he'd use "l33t" text most of the time and he'd often change his story on the fly so that he became related, in some way, to every player that struck up a conversation with him.

Good times.

I was there too, brother. We are heroes.

(Actually, I wasn't - I can't be bothered to raid, or RP for that matter, I'm only in it for the BGs these days, but that's the RP response, surely? We all killed the lich king. We may not remember seeing each other there at the time, but we accept it as a means of resolving the conflict when we're all (role-)playing the same game. Now if the RP claim was "I alone killed the lich king!", well that's a lie in any context.)

Ok I skipped some because I don't remember them all and Wowhead is going painfully slow right now.

There was also this horde blood elf in burning crusade horde stonetalon mountains base that, for no reason other than she hated Keeper Ordanus and nature, tells horde adventurers to go and kill him and take back his head. I think his name was Ordanus, however can't find it on wowpedia at all, although I'm certain that's his name. He was a son of Cenarius.

For no other reason than because she hated nature and for some demented reason hated Ordanil. That's just an example of a blood elf hating nature, I haven't seen any examples of them liking nature.

They could add blood elf druids and I wouldn't mind as long as they are either a minority or blood elves just have a culture change and start revering nature. Anything but undead, goblin or orc druids is fine by me.

Edit: name was Keeper Ordanus, here is the blood elf who gave the quest

http://www.wowpedia.org/Braelyn_Firehand

Hmm...It also supposedly says that she was allied with the Shadow Council secretly, and in cataclysm, she mysteriously vanished. That might explain it...she's probably a bad example then lol. Either way at the moment blood elves don't seem to care much for nature. Of course, there is nothing wrong with them going that route. I just hope they add draenei druids as well.

That "Blood Elf" NPC was originally a High Elf and had the Night Elf model back before BC. I remember doing that quest on my Warrior while leveling up though Stonetalon. I also remember that the Ordanus part was almost impossible to solo at level and I think that even with two of us (boyfriend and I) we had to give up on that part of the chain until we leveled up some more.

Mm, my night elf's hippogryph feather set was a bit different from the one on that list--Raven's Grips, Dreadhawk's Schynbald, and Chain Gang Legguards were the difference, I believe. Names may be horribly misspelled.

Of course, she's a troll now.

Neat, i've been thinking of collecting a roleplay set for my 3 characters, gotta get cheap stuff tho for equipment manager. I find the idea of playing an elite soldier (which can be any class really)interesting, so I want to find a set for my druid, my paladin, and shaman that makes them look like elite soldiers, or infantry I should say.

The appearance tab would be nice though.

You sure about that morghast? I remember leveling through Stonetalon in Vanilla as well, and she had a High Elf model then. Pale skin and blonde hair. I started playing about 6 months to a year into release, so maybe that's part of it? Or I just could be delusional.
