Playing on a PvE server meant never having to deal with that last part.

Getting fear bombed by the gargoyles and pulling other packs only meant that your group was either taking risks by not clearing some packs or simply was not pulling the enemies back far enough. Still, some of my favorite memories of vanilla WoW are of the times when that precise thing happened and we adapted and survived.
And if we're talking about real fun, 45 minute Baron runs were awesome, especially when the your group was in mostly blues with only a mere couple raid epics. Fun that would not be seen again until the ZA bear runs, IMO.
