Happy Cinco de Mayo to my Alla friends!
Just seeing what others had planned today (if anything) in WoW or in general.
Personally, after my last final today, I'll be going to the Hard Rock working the Blackjack tables and having drinks since I'm off tomorrow. (Also, need to finish up the last achievement for the world event on my rogue).
I need to come back on here more often. I miss you all! (well maybe not EVERYONE, but a majority of you!)

You know, you're right. I think I'm gonna go to the local Mexican buffet instead. Thanks for the heads up.
Edit: Wait a minute. Chop suey is actually a chinese dish that we have just taken and bastardized, so it would appear that your simile has fallen apart.
I'm still going to the buffet, though.

Actually, my plans for today are still up in the air. I'm going between three options:
1. Go out to a local bar that has salsa music, free chips and salsa, and "deals" on margaritas and Corona (Pro-tip to the bar: $3 for a bottle of Corona is not a "deal"
)
2. Stay in and make some themed dinner. I have hot sauce, meat, tortillas, rice, and beans already. Thinking of making a good ol' Mexican meal.
3. Do nothing festive and write two articles for ZAM
Probably going to be number 3, as none of my friends are going to the bar and making a big dinner just for myself is sad (girlfriend and roommates are gone for this week).

Never tried it, but did eat molé before, which was spicy but odd (I figure the chocolate gave it that slighty-off taste). Studied abroad in Mexico for several weeks in college, and loved the cooking. EVERY meal had three ingredients though: lime, beans, and tortillas. Good eatin' though

Half a white onion, diced
About a pound of pork stew meat
Half a frozen container of hot red chile
frozen posole
Garlic powder
oregano(I used dried)
salt
Sweat the onion, then add the stew meat, season with several dashes of garlic powder and brown. After it has browned, add a butt ton of oregano and some salt as well as red chile. Then add posole until your pot is about half full. Fill pot most of the way to top with water. Boil for about an hour, check posole for doneness. Boil longer. Cry because this stuff just won't cook fast enough and you're hungry now! After about another half hour, add more salt and oregano to taste.
Garnish with lemon, lime, onion, fresh oregano, or nothing at all.

Nah, either it's not too bad or my stomach is just used to it. The food is decent and they have really good sopapillas.
Mmmmm, Mexican food. Where I hang my hat is a small community with a large Hispanic base, so I get to enjoy lots of fine dishes. I'm particularly fond of the salsa, damn stuff is so hot, I've found that the only way to get cooled down is with ice cold lemonade ( of course, I realize that many would prefer beer ).
I was in Mexico for Cinco De Mayo probably 15 years ago, all I remember ( this was when I could still handle alcohol ) is that I ate, drank, and made merry till morning; specific events are shrouded in fog though.

I grew up in one of those. My mom did the books for a small family restaurant down by the tracks. They often gave her food when she picked up the paperwork. I'm drooling just remembering it.
Also, I made burritos for lunch this week, given how all that stuff was on sale last weekend. Beans, rice, ground beef, salsa, onions, jalapenos... It's just a little stale after sitting in the frig for like 5-6 days.
I guess that will have to do though.

It would take A LOT until a post of mine would be "tipsy." I think the only time I was ever tipsy was one New Year when I had a shot of 151 (first time I had tried it and didn't really have a lot in my stomach food-wise).
But I'll definitely try to get on after the Hard Rock to post something. If I don't pass out from being tired tonight lol.

First of all, I hate to say Pold, but frozen red chile sauce is INCREDIBLY hard to find away from here. I'm talking in California they have trouble finding the good stuff even. Once you pass the New Mexico / Texas border and go north a bit, things get REALLY bad.
I mean, hell, man, you pass the NM/ TX border and go into El Paso, and you get **** like Chico's Tacos, which despite being an INSULT to 'tacos' is one of the most famous Mexican restaurants in the country.
If you CAN find it, here's something even better:
Get some pork, cut it into cubes, and dump a bunch of it into a crock pot around.... 3/4 full of red chile sauce. Cook it for a few hours. Throw some cubed potatoes in. Cook it for an hour or so. Serve in a bowl with the bottom half covered in rice.
THAT is traditional Spanish food, so you can shove it in Mexico's face WHILE you celebrate!

I heard the hype, so I wandered the slums of Chuco til I found Chico's (Should tell you something about the place when the neighbors across the street dog you when you walk in, sitting on their porch, drinking their Dos Equis).
Went in, and ordered a plate of their 'famous tacos.'
Sat down at a filthy table (there were no clean ones), my hippie feet on the seat across in case a roach decided to attack my sandalled feet. Got my order brought to me by the Mexican version of Uncle Bubba, and looked at it.
I told El Bubbo "Hey, bro, this isn't what I ordered, I ordered a plate of tacos."
"No, ese, those are our famous tacos, enjoy dude."
I look at my taquitos they call tacos, swimming in a sea of what I ASSUME is grease. I take a few bites and feel a little ill.
I walk up to the counter with the food and say "This isn't cooked right." And then they tell me that it IS cooked right, that's how their tacos are!
I managed to BARELY stifle a HispanicRageSession and leave, announcing that I'll never go back, and telling the poor shmucks locking their car what the place REALLY is.

At least, you don't if you come from my family and assume the place is gonna be like my great aunt's place.
Chipotle is as close as i get to mexican food, and damn it sure is good!
