WSG Graveyard change, yae or nay?Follow

I joined up WSG this morning to find that the GY has been lowered down a tier but not all the way to the level of the main field. Normally I would like this change but I realized today that it forces you to jump down below. If there happens to be a group of people GY camping, you literally have no choice but to jump into the grinder because you simply can't go anywhere else. I'm not sure how this was a good idea at all.

I haven't been camped in the new GYs yet, but I can't say I got camped in the old ones to an insane degree either. So I guess the change hasn't affected me much to date. I've heard grumbles though.

Besides, forcing the other side to fight at midfield when you're up is where the awesome is. Smiley: nod

There are apparently a number of changes that went down in 4.1, covered in detail in the somewhat pvp-focused blog "Cynwise's Battlefield Manual". In the description of this one, he gives the opinion that:

"I hate to say it, but this change is really targeted at healers in rated battlegrounds. Rated BGs should have 2-3 healers, and with the current layout, healers are only out of a FR defense for about 30-45 seconds. This change is to open the window of opportunity for the attackers to take down the FC once the healers are gone."

You can just hold the flag in or in range of the graveyard where the healers will res, it doesn't really prevent that at all. That's if anything a better place to defend anyway since you can't accidentally run out of los of your healers while trying to kite someone.

Actually, that isn't at all helpful. If you happen to hold the flag near the GY but not down on it, the healers can still heal you through the hill. Slopes and hills have never provided LoS issues. Not only that enemy players would have to jump down a tier to kill the freshly rezed healers making them have to run all the way around to get back to the FC if they do.

It's a better idea to solve the problem then I could come up with, but it really ruins a lot for me. Especially since I don't do rated BGs, I do random BGs. Ever since this change I as a lowly mage and pretty much trapped in the GY till I have more people to spawn with.
