Last night I was defending a node in Gilneas. Like a good little Warlock I dropped my portal, moved away from it, and started spamming consume shadows. After a short time I got shadowsteped (yes it's a word) by a rogue, and we started dueling. I'm disorientated, he's stunned, I bubble, he's dazed now, I'm poisoned, etc etc.

Anyway I'm looking to get some distance so I decide to go for my trusty demonic circle. I glance down at my toolbar and have a moment of doubt. Uh oh, which button is it?!!

See I had this brilliant idea to keybind the summon portal and teleport right next to each other, I mean they're related and all. Unfortunately they look alike, a lot alike; like a lot a lot alike. So I guess, and 0.486 seconds later my trusty demonic circle appears directly below me.

@#$% Smiley: mad

Anyway the rogue finished wiping the floor with me and I decided it'd be a good idea not to put those buttons so close together anymore. Over three years into this game and I'm still making clumsy noob mistakes. Smiley: lol

So help me feel better, has anyone else done something stupid lately? Please share. Smiley: flowers

A couple days ago I was farming leather in Twilight Highlands on my hunter and I spot Karoma. Yay! I quickly dismiss my pet and start the taming. Hmm... doesn't seem to be working. I try again and notice the msg that says "Can not be tamed" or something to that effect. I figured I must have made a mistake on the mob's name and proceed to kill before being killed. Just a I let the last arrow fly, I remember I'm in SV and not BM.

/facepalm

I've got mitigation cooldowns keybound to V and Character Pane keybound to C.

I can't tell how many times I've sent my non-Druid characters plummeting to their deaths because I wanted to check out my stats while flying somewhere. Smiley: facepalm

I can proudly say I have yet to kill any of my non druid characters via skydiving. :D Of course I also use a keybinding for flight form, and Broker Mounts for all my mounts, so it's hard to make that mistake.

Sometimes I drop my fire elemental totem while doing archaeology because the icon is next to my surveying icon. They look nothing alike so I have no excuse but I feel really stupid when I do it even if no one else is around.

Pulling aggro off of the tank while he's pulling a boss is another noob mistake and I did it twice last night in raid and felt like an idiot. Actually, any incident of accidentally pulling threat off a tank feels like a noob mistake to me so I feel really stupid when I do it. I say accidentally because there are times when I just go all out on a mob without caring if I pull threat if I know the mob won't kill me or cause other havoc if it's on me instead of the tank.

Does it count if I was base jumping in the Barrens (shift back into flight form just before the ground to quickly lose altitude) and slammed into a tree? Mentioning it got me sympathy in my guild, from other druids who have cut things too close to priests who didn't glyph levitate and find out too late they're out of feathers. Then there's all of us who have run off a cliff on a Hawkstrider because we mistook it for a flying mount in that critical second.

Not to long ago I was flying over the mountains near Stormwind and for whatever the reason was needed to land and do something. I landed on top of one of the higher mountains and dismounted to do whatever it was. I go to mount back up but accidently hit my ground mount instead of flying. I proceeded to jump forward in an effort to take off, only to see me and my argent warhorse falling off the moutain. To top it all off I had to take the graveyard rez because I couldn't get to my corpse.

Back before you could fly in Dalaran, I had finished off my AQ armor set on my Warrior and wanted to take some screenshots of it. I flew up to the tallest tower in Dal where that little ringed platform is and took some shots and then mounted up on my sparkle pony without noticing that even though I flew up there just fine, my other flying mounts weren't highlighted to click. So, I happily leaped off the ledge on my WINGED sparkle pony and landed in the Alliance section of Dalaran in my shiny purple bug gear.....>.<

Another incidence of raid noobness - itchy interrupt finger - on Maloriak, there are two abilities that he casts and one of them should always be interrupted and the other should only be interrupted when called for. I have done my fair share of accidental interrupts on the wrong ability. *sighs*

Oooh I remembered something! During the Valentines event I slacked off and procrastinated. Then during the last three days I did a mad rush to finish up my achievements. The only toon I had left to sprinkle was a human DK. I didn't want to ask my bf to make a dk and have him go through the three hour starting area just so I could get the achieve, so I tried stealthing into Stormwind. I flew above the city, found a roof, and landed. Before I got a chance to stealth, one of the flying guards came down and started attacking me. this of course caught the attention of the entire city and people started flying up on the roof attacking me. I died in about five seconds lol. I think that even if I had been good at pvp, I still would have died there. Never did finish my Valentines achievement either. -_-

An old one...

Back in... vanilla, perhaps? I was interested in exploring areas I shouldn't. In particular I wanted to check out Old Ironforge. Short of getting sheeped next to a certain wall, there was a way to get there by jumping into the lava in the Great Forge, walking through the wall as a ghost, and then ressing.

Sure enough, I died quickly upon jumping off the side into the lava. Step one, check!
I ran back as a ghost and jumped back into the lava. Step two, check!
... and quickly discovered I ran into the wrong lava pit, and could not reach my body to res. I also couldn't hearth as a ghost, and there was no way out of the lava pit. Fail.

Had to call for a GM, and when I next logged in, they made me change my name because I had an accent mark in it. Remember back when Blizzard cared about names? Smiley: laugh

To add insult to injury, I later found out that the bug allowing travel through that particular wall was taken out well before I tried it.

They made you change your name because of an accent? Smiley: dubious

It's sad when you get nailed for an accent and then this guy walks free:

They should make that guy rename his character to Emeril. =x

Locke did say this was back in Vanilla though.

Yeah, I decided to go with the bam/boom thing rather than pointing out how that chacter's name is really pronounced Soom.

Although I think my favortie thing about his name is how the O's have eyebrows...and they do not look happy!!!

i used to always have my ground & air mount next to each other, so i could click the fliers in outland/northrend and ground in az/dala etc. well the one day i was in outland doing something, clicked on my mount and jumped off the ledge only to realize..i had hit the cat, not the gryphon...:(.

also, i just (as in the past week) found out you can cast mind sear on a player/npc. i never knew you could do that!!!

Wouldn't the European servers tend to be more lenient on accent marks than the US ones?

i use shift+ button 4 and 5 on my mouse [extra side buttons] to change druid forms

Really neat right? well...i also use normal 5 and 4 for my most commonly spammed abilities and i use keyboard keys as well for the other abilities, and then they have shift-key on top of them

Thus a bizarre situation of me using the spammed strikes and using the shift-key abilities together in a boss battle which results in me turning my forms on and off randomly between tiger and bear and caster and honey badger [cause he dont care, he doesnt give a sh*t]

Creating a excusemeWtfareyoudoing from my group.

If I'm not totally mistaken that's only since the last patch (4.0.6 me thinks). Nothing to be embarassed about. ;)

A few weeks ago my guild was trying Halfus HC. ~1,5 hours into the wipefest I stood on my usual position next to the bronze drake on the right and while casting accidentally clicked on him. Which triggered the cast to free him.
Somehow the castbar eluded my sight and I targeted skull again and continued my DPS "rotation". A few seconds later our raidleader asked a little bit angry why there was a fourth drake flying around free. I think my voice in TS was rather timid and girlish when I confessed.

We got a new one last night. The kid of some of my guildies (nicknamed Raptor) is at the age where she's beginning to speak, and has learned how to cheer for us on raids. Last night we were approaching Chimaeron when the hunter misclicked and shot the guy, and as we're griping and wiping we hear Raptor over Vent chanting "Go team go! Go team go!"

Mocked by a toddler.

I think we all had the experience with wondering why our wolf (replace by your fav ground mount) wasn't taking off.
I had it once and luckily didn't die because I was a bit away from the ledge when I noticed that my mount jumped instead of spreading it's wings and taking off.

My most emberassing flying mount moment was during BC when I tried 'divecharging' on my warrior: Dropping onto the enemy and charging it to prevent falling damage. Worked fine until one enemy pathed out of charging range.

To add insult to injury, I didn't even die due to falling damage; I landed with about 5% health in the aggro range of the enemy I wanted to attack in the first place. He ate my face.

I'm pretty sure the official naming policies for the US and EN servers are identical. The French servers probably roll with a different system since accent marks are a part of the French language.

Also, while browsing through the naming policies right now, I noticed that giving your pet a gibberish name is against the naming policy and could potentially lead to a permanent suspension from the game.

Good thing my Warlock's pets aren't given random gibberish names. Oh, wait... Smiley: lol
