So, is "Æ" always pronounced as "ehh"?

Hmn, pretty much. We even spell 'ehh' 'æhh'.

But the confusing part is that we sometimes pronounce 'e' as 'æ', like in 'eller' (or).

Hmm okay. Well it's definitely going to be difficult for me to learn the language, but at least I can say hi and bye to you lol

If you honestly want to learn a Scandinavian language, I suggest first getting a STRONG foundation in a Germanic language. Germanic languages are evolutions of the Scandi languages, as English is an evolution of Germanic languages (mostly), so it makes a GREAT stop-gap.
Danish is a beautiful language, wish I knew how to speak it.

Soft "D" are used in a lot of languages outside of English, think of it as a hard "Z" sort of. Same tongue movement.

I just spewed imaginary beer out of my nostrils.

Our language has been called many things, but beautiful wasn't the first that came to mind.

Relevant YouTube link. Some professor doing an introductory thingy to the Danish language (comparing it to Norwegian).

Other relevant link.

I'm of Norwegian descent and understand a few words from my father who was learning it while traveling and meeting relatives over there. I did take language courses in high school for French, Spanish, German, Hebrew and Swahili, all from the same incredibly stunning 26 year old teacher (who had a following of teen-age boys who all thought she was hot). Mostly just remember a bit of French & German now, but wish I had the time ("Stop playing WoW!") to pick up on languages again. Ett språk er aldri nok.

Sigh.
