I was wondering if you can go to Mount Hyjal to quest at 78. A couple of my guildies said you were able to but I can't log the quest form the board or the guy near the portal in Stormwind.
Anyone know if your able to? If not I guess its off to ice crown =/

While I'm not sure if you can actually grab quests at level 78, I was under the impression that mobs hit like trucks on players that were lower level than them when you reach 80+ questing, so I'm not entirely sure you would want to, even if you could. This is assuming I'm correct.
I wouldn't advise it, at 80 in Cata AH greens, I was getting whooped on with my mage. It was just brutal til I got some more gear.

When I went to Hyjal, I had a mage with 2-3 pieces of cata crafted greens (deathsilk), with a i200 AT weapon, and the rest of it, some quested junk and I didn't have much trouble at all with the first few quests really.
You can't go to Cata stuff until 80. As for feasibility I was struggling but surviving on my priest fresh from leveling with Wrath gear. I'd win fights, but without the heirloom trinket procs and with the extra time fights took my mana was suffering and more than one mob meant I;d need to drop heals mid-fight. After some early vash'ir (including kiting the elite giant to death) I hopped back to the UC AH and in just 4 pieces of gear (I think a helm, a neck, a belt and a weapon) I was plowing through mobs just like in earlier zones.
You can't get any quests, but I was doing the rock elementals at 76 on my shaman for the JC daily 'elemental goo' (or whatever it's called.
I'd get occasionally overwhelmed with some of the fast respawns, but generally it wasn't too bad. Except for the dying, because the grave yard was in a completley different zone.

Those of you saying you can not get quests are wrong. I was able to get quest on my Hunter at 78, and I had little to no problem doing them.

If you can quest up there at 78, then it's a recent change. You used to have to wait until 80.

Could be recent. I did not level through there till a week or two ago.
Which quests? Because I flew around there three days ago and both the breadcrumb quests and all the questgivers in the first area were silver exclamations.
Fairly sure it was the bread crumb quests. I may have been 79 and not 78 but I know was not 80.

Jay, I found Cata greens to be amazing. Especially the level 80 ones, they tended to be ilvl 289 compared to the 272 quest rewards from vashjir/hyjal. I basically havent replaced many of my greens yet lol except for the odd blue quest reward. Theres also lvl 300 necks and rings that JCs seem to spam out, I buy them on all my characters, usually about 75g a piece for a solid blue thats viable for leveling from 80-85. I've had so much fun replacing all my WoTLK gear via greens and blues from the AH before I even go out to start questing.

Went to SW on my 78 mage today and was unable to get the quests. Disregard all previous posts. I blame the mistake on Beer

I agree with this completely. I bought a couple of blue rings for my DK and got all the way through Hyjal and Vashj'ir and only replaced 1 of them with a quest reward from near the end of Vashj'ir.
I decided not to buy any greens off the AH since I was without epic flying on that char and just bought the rings. Didn't even bother with a weapon because I knew one of the first 2 quests had a 2h sword reward.
After finishing Hyjal and Vashj'ir I had replaced every piece of LK gear I had and had almost a full set of tank gear besides, only missing a ring, a relic, and 1 or 2 other items.

Yeah man everyone is right. I have tried to grind there and its hard and I have never found any available quests until 80.
