Anyone want a fun project?

I'm trying to come up with ideas for a name for the little bundle of joy we have on the way. I've been to about every baby-name website in the last couple of weeks, and am about burnt out on it. We found our guildies to be an awesome source of ideas, as they tend to come up with things we never thought of; so I'm here continuing this trend. Here's what were looking for:

1) A girl's name

2) Must have a double-vowel; wife is very firm on this (ae, ai, etc)

3) I'm mostly Scottish/German, she's Chinese/Japanese, but we're not limiting ourselves to those necessarily

4) No, I'm not using "Aethien" Smiley: rolleyes

If this is too OT; just pretend I'm coming up with a character name, or derail it into druid nerfs or something. Smiley: thumbsup

There's Ariana and Ariadne

Elaine

Ettienne

Lydia

Arianrhod, but you might want to read Bimbos of the Death Sun to get an idea what it might be associated with

Dianna

that's my 5 minutes of thinking :P

Before going for something hugely exotic, make sure you remember that this person will probably have to live with it for 80 or so years. (two of my ex's had their names officially changed, hippie generation parents).

Duh, Saria.

Because Ocarania of Time was an amazing game.

[EDIT]

Or Jaina, to keep things slightly less OOT. Or, Aegwynn. Alleria, areesa... Man, a LOT of the female names in WoW have double vowels.

More OOT: Lydia?

@#$%ing hippies... Smiley: rolleyes

But ya, we're trying to walk that line. You know, finding something not too common, but that people have at least heard of before. Don't want her to be one of 5 with the same name in her class, but not be laughed at for having an odd name either.

Also, thanks for the ideas so far everyone! Much appreciated. Smiley: smile

I thought the same thing a while back. I didn't want to comment lest it get jinxed Smiley: lol

As for names... hmmm...
Aean
Aimee
Ainethil
Aerith
Iorioa (toughest name ever to shout during an argument, I'd wager)
Serendia
Dentaria
Aria

How's that for a list so far? Smiley: grin

The double-vowel idea definitely lends itself to a traditional scottish name, like Mairead of something similar. I don't envy you at all, i spend half an hour staring at an mmo name box so something proper would be a nightmare. Congratulations on your new child by the way!

Just make sure that whatever name you pick, it doesn't sound ridiculous with your last name.

Naming a girl Ettienne Arianna Smith or something would be hilarious, though.

Well then obviously this conversation is over.

Grats on the incoming daughter, though. :)

Edit: Also Teacake is a girl's name with a double vowel. Just saying.

^ This. I have a friend who has so many A's in her full name, it sounds like you're about to sneeze when you say it. Another friend's name is Fawn Miriam. The Fawn part is the result of hippie parents who lived half their lives in a commune, the Miriam part is a much-disliked aunt. She's also in law school and really doesn't want to use either name. Her parents would be devastated if they knew she was thinking of legally changing it.

Name her after the Hellgirl. Smiley: grin

Ai. It's a double vowel, and nothing but a double vowel.

Regardless of what you choose...grats!

Friends of mine went with Scotia Rose for their daughter last year, kind of ties with the Scottish bit in origin.

Finding out my newest nieces name over dinner tonight, so interested.

My daughter's name is Faith, so I tend to recommend that :) She's the only one in her elementary school, but people have heard of it.

Other ideas:
Elysia
Sereena/Sareena
Eleanor
Naala

Cheers and grats on your soon-to-be-rolled level 1 warlock ;) Mine casts [Thunderous Britches] with zero cooldown.

Anyone with any exposure to Canadian culture would think of Scotia Bank when they heard someone call another person "Scotia", unfortunately.

Ages ago, I created a NE Priest named Zalia. After a couple of months, I decided to come up with a better name, using online Elven dictionaries (Tolkien and others). Turns out, Za- and -lia means 'royal' and 'mistress' in Tolkien Elvish.

Smiley: dubious

I ain't kidding.

Layla (I think the y counts as a double vowel there)
Keely

My dad was a fisherman and wanted to name me Abalonia Lobsteria. Sadly, I'm not kidding. Luckily my mom put a stop to that.

My criteria for a name for my future daughter is that it be unusual so she doesn't have other girls her age with the same name like I did, but still common enough that it isn't difficult to spell or have multiple spellings like I did, and finally (though this is optional) it needs to have a song associated with it. This is why Layla is at the top of the list for me. But I'm willing to share. :-)

Seeing as I'm a Canuck, actually from the maritimes... Scotia bank isn't the first thing that comes to mind. The province of Nova Scotia comes first.

Be that as it may, I dunno I think it's better than the moonbeam etc but it's one of those that has potential for disaster the way kids are :P

I've been in a class of 21 with 2 other people with the same name (although one was written with a C instead of a K so he didn't really count) and my current class of 11 has another guy with my name as well.
This time around it's nice though as he's a cool guy and we get along well.

Also gratz on the new spawn and I like Abigail as far as names go with two vowels that I can think of right now.
I also would never name a child Aethien, that would just be a bit too much.

Æthien however would be a great name Smiley: wink
