Suggested Raid ProgressionFollow

Hey guys, I don't post here much, but I was looking for a bit of advice from some of the raider-types.

My 10-man guild just started raiding this week, and we downed Magmaw and Omnotron. I'm not sure what we should try next week though. I've heard that Halfus and V+T aren't too tough, but I have no clue if we should be heading there, going into ToFW, or continuing on in BWD.

I've tried looking at suggestions on MMOC, but no one seems to agree on which fights are the easiest.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,
Kaelaadis

Sadly my group is having so much trouble with the double dragons, I can't understand why, we've wiped for 3-4 hours on those 2. It's the same thing over and over, and we expect it each attempt yet...bleh. We should have the first 2 in BoT down, Conclave, and Magmaw and Omnitron down to almost a farm, but bleh!

Sometimes raids seem to have the hardest times on some of the easiest things.

Back in TBC, we had very little trouble on bosses that should have been considerably harder, but we always struggled on Supremus for some reason. I used to be in the top 5 damage(and usually first or second for ranged DPS) regularly as a fire mage with no Curse of Elements, if that gives you an idea of how *** backwards things were for us in that fight.

Well the thing is certain fights have certain priorities. A lot of raiders get stuck in that "DPS HARD/AVOID FIRE" mentality. However there are fights that are specifically designed by Blizzard to punish and break that type of mentality.

Saurfang HM would be a very generalized example, though Lich King HM, Muru, Lurker, Algalon etc are also example. Saurfang was an execution fight, control on the adds and killing them effectively in Hard Mode 25 was directly related to how "easy/hard" the encounter was for you. If dps focused purely on dps at the expense of killing and controlling adds then the fight would quickly become sloppy and the chance of getting overrun with Marks would be a distinct possibility.

Supremus always makes me smile, because reduced and boiled down its basic strat was "can you watch a timer and be ready to run", much like Flame Leviathan in Ulduar. In Black Temple there was a warrior that liked to pad his dps by chasing and dpsing during kite phase and I would just heal the snot out of him and keep him alive, since it padded my meters as well. One day he got me mad, so I didn't heal him. He died 3 times over the course of the fight, which we one shot. /evil healer

As for raiding progression.

Tol Barad for VP and random loot, since it is a loot pinata.

Magmaw/Omnitron are fairly straightforward.

Halfus is a on par with Omnitron, though you have different dragons to deal with as opposed to different coloured stone dudes. Once you figure out which random dragon to kill first the fight is a push over.

Double Dragons - Simple Transition fight with situational awareness mechanics. Dragon 1 spread out, clump up when someone gets the debuff to share the damage and spread out. Dragon 2 clump up, when someone gets the debuff they need to run out. If you can learn that and handle the simple transitions in between then it is a kill.

Conclave of Wind - Loot pinata. Watch a video, get a kill. Very simple boss.

Those are the first six farm bosses, you might take a couple attempts to master them but once you get them down you will find that repeating kills the next week will be pretty easy.

After that I would say Maloriak and Atrimedes in BWD are fairly easy and you should be able to down them with a night or two of attempts depending on your level of play. Chimaeron will basically be a test of your healers and some guilds tend to find it harder to do. Ascendant Council and Chimaeron are on the same level I would say in terms of challenge. Not epic but they are a step up from Maloriak/Atrimedes. From there you have the three end bosses, in order of challenge would be Al'Akir, Cho'gall then Nefarian.
