I think there is always some misconception that the skillsets needed to be a solid raider take some sort of superhuman devotion to the game. Or OCD fixation on minutiae and details most regular people would never care to do for a video game.
When really the basic skillset/foundation of a raider really is as simple as the flow chart above, even more so really.
If you master the basics, you would be surprised how the rest comes easily.

Yeah it's just the basic things, the difference is in how good you are at those basic things.
Taking two ticks of the AoE vs taking one tick vs avoiding it altogether, moving 3 seconds to get out of the AoE vs 2 seconds vs 1 second etc. Small things but all in all they make a large difference.
Also the /dance for healers, that's the really hard part.
