The Raid Lock-out and a small problemFollow

When I start back at lectures I will only be able to attend raids on a Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday and was a bit worried about missing out on some content. I thought rather than PuG it may be possible to get a second guild run raiding at a slightly later time on the nights I can't make it home in time for 18:45.

The problem I had was this may cause conflict with the earlier raid, however I thought it would allow people to gear up quicker (few of us in the same situation) and to see the content. From what I understand of the lockout Group A and B would be able to kill Boss 1 and 2 on a Wednesday then people from group B could go raid with group A on a Thursday if needed.

I am going to talk my Guild master about it later and was wondering if there is anything I have missed out or am not aware of? (apologies in advance for poor punctuation and failing to understand something simple)

My understanding is this:

Raid Bosses = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10* (Ten is Optional/heroic only/ or triggered in some way)

Group A Completes 1234
Group B Completes 12345

*Players from Group B can not Join Group A until Group A kills 5
*Players from Group A can join group B, but they will be promted and saved to a #5 kill, without getting any achievement or loot, etc...
*If the players don't all complete the requirements for Boss 10, they can not do it.


I think it works like a "Highest Common Denominator" (If there is such a thing) Players from the Slow Group may always join the fast group, but will suffer the loss of an attempt at the bosses the fast group has cleared, but the slow group has not yet cleared.

Players from the FAST group can never go down to the slow group and re-attempt a boss they are saved to.


You could however - PuG bosses 123.

Then join a guild run for 456.

Then finish the guild run with some pugs for 789.

The issue, I think (Could be wrong) is that everyone must either be at the same boss - or agree to be saved to that point. (This was a big reason why I quit my last guild. I wasn't invited to anything because I was relatively new, but then Sunday and Monday nights - when their main healer was gone, they wanted me to come to a wipe-fest with my Disc Priest on 11/12 ICC clears. Or they wanted my fire mage to DoT up adds on another 11/12 ICC clear. But I digress….)

Anyway, that’s my ill-informed understanding of the system…

It's not an issue, in bad sense at least. Since before this system you could have pugged one boss after which the raid disbanded and you were left with no other bosses and a crappy save. Now if you kill one boss, you can join your guild or another pug for the remainders.

I'm not saying that the new system is a bad thing. In fact, if used properly (read: not how my old guild was using it) - it could really be a good thing.

I was trying to make a statement of fact, but prefacing that I believe it's a fact.... Thus - I might be completely wrong....

I think it's just a little confusing right now because it's new.
