My 4 Year old son like to watch daddy play his game. From time to time I allow him to sit in the seat and goof around a bit. He usually just runs around Elwynn Forest killing the cows and spiders and such. Must be pretty silly to see a bunch of high level toons wandering aimlessly killing stuff for ***** and giggles. He loves it though.

This eve I was home from work on my lunch break and jumped on the computer to check email and such. He comes in and asks to play daddy's game after I'm done. I allow him on and help him pick out a toon (the one that is the kitty and birdy, daddy). My Druid is also my main.

As I am running out the door I tell my wife how to shut off WoW when my son is finished. The thought that my son would do something other than kill cows and spiders and such did not cross my mind. I guess it should have.

Log in to find myself at the graveyard outside of Stormwind with a big red arrow pointing NNW. No big deal I think -- he probably just shape shifted out of flight form somewhere in the city and fell to his death. I made my way to the north end of the harbor before porting back to the graveyard and taking the rez sickness.

I think we will be having a talk in the morning about all the crazy sight that he may have seen.

This is probably a story that would have been funny to tell his grandparents, not a random forum that doesn't give two ***** about your son.

When I first started reading this I thought it was going to end up being something good, him getting into something he shouldn't have. Instead it ends with him dying from flying somewhere and that warrants a "talk in the morning?"

Smiley: disappointed

My roommates in college used to make fun of me for playing WoW and every once in a while if I got up to go to the bathroom or something and left myself logged in I would come back to find myself drowned at the bottom of the Stormwind canals.

The whole dying thing could maybe be what warrants a talk in the morning? I mean, either in a serious "this is a first encounter with death" kinda way or a silly "No son of mine is gonna be a noob" way.

How does "he accidentally got killed" warrant the title?

With a title like that one expects to find out that the kid attacked an enemy city or somehow managed to get killed in an interesting or creative way/location - ie/why was my toon's corpse in Thrall's bedroom wearing the easter bunny ears, no pants and surrounded by dead goblins in murlock outfits?

WE DEMAND ACTION OR ********

Seriously, though, what's up with the hostility on this board lately? One guy posts some farming videos and people are all over him with negative comments. Another posts a cute story about his 4-year-old playing the game with him and people start bashing away.

I mean, I get why Theo's doing it, but everyone else seems to be in a really ****** mood this week.

Theo aside, I didn't really read the peoples' responses as being hostile. No more hostile than the following, at least. Smiley: tongue

I guess I could see how they could be seen as hostile, though I just kinda read them as disappointed.

Yeah, well, I'm having a sh*tty week.

Ran out of beer an hour ago.

Edit: And that other post needed a Smiley: sly smiley. It's a quasi-reply to the post above it.

If it's the first, I would be more concerned with letting him run around killing poor defenseless animals and humans.

We can be very biased and jaded with our time that we spend in WoW. Having been around the block a time or two with the game can make us forget some of the little things that make it pretty cool to play.

The talk with my son was not to be angry with him about dieing or killing the poor innocent animals/humans. It was more along the lines of what did you see and what happened.

Ends up he had died a few times, but was able to retrieve his corpse a few times. His final death must have been a fatigue death over the water because he was talking about the pretty sky and the water and all the birds flying around.

I may have a future Chinese gold farmer on my hands. Now to teach him to loot all the lvl 10 guys that he kills.

... to explain to him that even though is papa chose Alliance, being embarrassed by one's parents is part of the natural order of things, and nothing to cry about. No doubt the poor lad was just trying to flee to Orgrimmar.

I liked the story. :)

If I were more childish, I might suggest that PyleoDung quote what you said there and respond with "Well, your mom chose Alliance last night. Oh yeah."

But I'm not childish like that.

I'm comfortable admitting that I'm childish enough to have lol'd.

I also thought he sold your stuff or threw all your shinnies away.

I was expecting a stronger story.

You should teach the kid how to run Stocks at least. Make him farm wool.
