If not me, then who?

I mean everyone seems to have their niche they fill. You and Aeth are the resident troll/ahole/elitists. Horse and Maz are the drunks but tend to make constructive posts. Protein observes nicely. Noc is the lurking hottie ( <3 you noc).

QFT...Love those two.

I'm not sure I like what you're insinuating.

I don't make constructive posts.

That's pretty much the forums in a nutshell.

As for your actual decision, the only thing I can recommend is to give them all a shot. Sure, it's a lot of time, but try making them different races, at least. It should keep things interesting while you level. And after you've played them all for a bit, stick with the one you keep coming back to.

Mages are not the top DPS right now, but you don't care about that. They are very fun to play, but for newer players, many people consider them one of the harder classes to level. You use mana, you wear cloth, and you effectively have no heals. (For example, leveling my Paly - which is basically the opposite of a mag - was much easier)
And quite squishy. Get a couple adds while you have all your escape tools on cooldown and you might just take a dirt nap.

And that first sentence is kinda painfully true right now.

That was almost as creepy as the PM the OP sent me asking what class I play, though to be fair, that was only creepy because for some reason I read it in the tone one would use when asking "So, what are you wearing?"

The races and classes in the game are well balanced. If you make a post asking "What is the best race?" or "What is the best class?". be prepared for flames.

I don't know. I still haven't broken it like Horse did. Anyway, you're still in moderator chat with Xsarus; you'll just have to spam him until he tells you my karma. Smiley: wink

(only a few days gone from there, and I miss ya'll already. *sniff sniff* Smiley: cry)

You can't just make a blanket statement like that.
A badly played or badly geared fire mage will be doing rest druid status DPS.
A badly played ANY spec / class will produce similar results.
Playing a class you don't sync with will get you the same.
Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, e-e-e-ever choose a class based on the FoTM syndrome.

Not only that, but PvE mages are only OP on AoE fights right now. We're middle of the pack at best on DPS, all other things considered. The only thing OP about us right now, really, is PvP, where I hear we're kicking *** as frost.

I'm wanting to start a new char.

If you're going to start a new character, why not check out the new races and get some new content? Once you pick a race, take a look at what appeals to you as a character concept. As others have pointed out, Flavor of the Month classes tend to shift around as part of the constant balancing act; you'd might as well pick something you can stand to stare at for hours of /played.
