I just have to jump as I pop into flight form.

It doesn't just look awesome (especially when I do the little Nelf flip in the air), it's practical too. I'm already in the air when I get in the new form and can just up and fly away. It got me killed the other day in Uldum when I jumped off a ledge as I got put into combat and fell to my death, but I digress. It's a small price to pay for the awesomeness.

Anyway I can't be the only one with a problem like this can I? Stop laughing.... Smiley: mad it's your turn to share now. Smiley: wink

Haha, glad I'm not the only one that does this. I'm not a druid but I have the habit of jumping near the end of the flying mount cast (before it's done), and it says it's Interrupted but it still casts and mounts me anyway.

I don't know if it helps any but it's fun for me to do anyway

I thought for sure this would be a thread about archeology.

But yeah timing your jump cast as a non druid so you mount in the air and speed away is a basic skill of awesome. I thought everyone did it? :)

Oh don't even get me started on that, having all the Nelf artifacts except that trinket I really want and such... Smiley: frown

Smiley: frown me too. I made them all except for one after 450 because I saved them. /sigh

This must be similar to the priest rule of always jumping every time you use holy nova.

I'm, um, not OCD either. Sure, I have to do my dailies in a particular order, every single time, but that just means I'm well organized.

I love when I was able to jump right as my mount finished casting and never had time to actually go into flight mode, so I was able to fly around on a proto drake that looked like it was just chillin' not flapping it's wings or anything and would sometimes some the special animation if I kept it long enough. You had to constantly be flying forward though, if you stopped he would flap his wings.

I've just been levelling an alt through archaeology and thoroughly enjoying honing up my jumpmount. He's a Nelf warrior, and looks most amusing leaping up and landing on the gryphon that's just popped up underneath him - and then he's off. I did the same levelling a paladin, the class mount animation added to the effect.

It's not really OCD, is it? It's like being offered a biscuit ('cookie') - sometimes I'm not that hungry, or I'm to busy or distracted to care how I mount up, but it's not a mental illness to prefer a biscuit to no-biscuit. I've got to mount anyway, I might as well make it look good.

Ha ha. You mean there are people who DON'T jump for flight form or at the end of the mount cast? I thought everyone did that.

You're not a real Druid if you're not jumping constantly. And yes, it is a really good reason to do crappy dps at raids when you only use instant casts because you are jumping all the time.

I like to cast my opening spell when mounted, preferably in the air. Its like I pop out of no where and start laying down destruction.

I also love landing from my mount and surprising someone... Pure awesome!

Jumping off the cliff to mine in AB while stealthed, and then shadowstepping someone right before I hit the ground to avoid falling damage, is equally epic, IMO!

Probably one of the most amazing experiences in game... I feel like the baby bird who just got pushed out of the nest and if i don't flap my wings i don't make it :P

As is standing watching someone fall to their doom after shadowstepping off the ledge at the LM.

I do this all the time. If you're running forward and shifting to Flight Form, you'll continue to move forward at 100% ground speed (mount speed). The jump causes you to leave the ground level and move at 280%/310% instead. If you're trying to get away from someone, it's the safest way to do it, as you leave ground level and possible snares.

Plus, it helps you master the art of taking off from a watery surface.

That's what I tell myself when I have to turn everything on in my car in a very specific order, and have to have the air vents at the exact right angle.

I fully admit to my OCD.

One example of which is the fact that I have to check the door to my house three times before I leave every single day.

Haha! I've taken to cancelling flying mount 30-40 yards above the nodes. Dropping is faster than descending!

What's the difference between OCD and habits? I mean, I understand the difference between severe OCD, such as having to turn the lights on and off 25 times before leaving it off/on. But what about smaller things, such as brushing your teeth before or after you eat breakfast, always shaving in the same pattern and lighting a smoke in a certain way?

Do you want to stab yourself for doing it the 'wrong' way?

I've been known to revisit the informal "leaving home" checklist (oven off, electric blanket/kettle/etc. off, door locked, ...) any number of times before actually leaving. After a lot of reflection, it's not true OCD - it's my subconscious worrying about something else, and this is how it manifests. A few moments of thought to bring what I'm actually stressing over from the back to the front, and I'm able to leave.
