I just recently start WoW, yes noob! ha 4 days ago
Last night I was exploring and got to a new area and the game disconnects me. Now all I'm getting is "Unable to connect to server" every time I try to log in at the character selection screen.
Just seems like the strangest thing, waiting on tech support email response and I've done their connection FAQ's just wondering if someone might be able to help me out with this or at the very least help me understand why this is happening.
Not a billing issue either that just cleared this morning >.>;

Have you checked the oboards for any folks posting a current similar issue? Something like that would indicate server side rather than on your end issues.

No I have not, not sure the Oboards are to be honest.

Do you have any of the expansions? Do you happen to remember what zone you discovered before disconnecting? It's possible that if you don't have the expacs, you tried to go into an area that's meant for the expansions only and for some reason, instead of zoning you back out, it's DC'ing you. if anything, Blizz can teleport that toon to a different area so you can log back in.
(That's just my wild guess, I wouldn't know what else could be the problem)
ETA: Also, the O-boards are what we call the forums on Blizzard's WoW site.

Desolace I believe is the name of the area I am currently stuck in, and no I do not have any expansions.
Just bought the digital copies up to Cataclysm and logged in no problem.

Hm that's weird. I mean, granted Desolace is different than before but it's still "old world" content. I don't see why you were having issues. /shrug Oh well. At least it's working for you now =)
