Simple question... please helpFollow

#1 Dec 29 2010 at 5:51 AM Rating: Good
Okay, so I'm new to WOW, and I absolutely cannot figure this out...

I don't know how to access recently gained abilities because my action bar is full, and so they are not showing up on it and I don't know where to find them. Tried scrolling up and down to other action bars... but no luck.

Could somebody please tell me where, oh where my new abilities can be found?

Thanks and much gratitude,

CactusFlower

Press P to open your spellbook.

Yes, I've tried that... none of the abilities in my spellbook are the ones I've recently learned... they are just dissappeared into the ether

but thanks, anyways

Could it be because I just have a trial account?

No it's not that. Are you sure you've actually LEARNED the abilities from your trainer? When you level up and the game tells you you have a new ability available, it doesn't mean you can use it right away. You have to go learn it at your Class trainer first, and then use your spellbook(P) to drag it onto your bars and whatnot. Also, if you haven't noticed there's 4 tabs in your spellbook. Maybe the abilities you're looking for are in a different tab.

What level are you? Have you gone to the trainer and actually trained the stuff? If it's not in your spellbook, perhaps you're not the level needed for a particular ability. Which ability are you supposed to have?

I am a level 15 priestess... and yes, I actually went to the trainer and purchased the abilities. Psychic scream, resurrection and power word were the last three I've trained. When I open my spellbook, there are only two pages, and no where are the abilities I use on my action bar.

Any possibility that you could link us some screenshots of your spellbook?

professions are under K, the spellbook has been under P since the game was launched as far as I know.

I think I know the issue. When you have your spellbook open, you'll see some tabs on the right side of it. Each tab is each tree of your talents (Discipline, Holy, Shadow) and your general tab (which is what you're probably on). If you go into each tab, you'll see each spell for that specific tree that you learned. Like Psychic Scream, if I remember correctly, should be in the shadow tab.

So basically what I'm trying to say is, click on each tab to get the spells you're missing from your action bar. =)

When you bring up your spell book, there's 4 tabs on the right hand side of it. The first (default) tab is your general skills/abilities. For a priest, the other 3 tabs will be Discipline, Holy, and Shadow. Most of your skills/spells will be on these 3 tabs (passive abilities go to general tab).

K brings up a window showing your tradeskills (it use to also show your weapon skills before blizzard removed them)

Also, word of warning, if you want to customize your action bar, you'll need to go into options and fiddle with stuff so that you can actually drag spells off of the action bar. That frustrated me at first when I restarted.

I prefer to have my bars locked so as to not accidently drag one off. You can always shift+drag to change them if needed. Full disclosure, I read that tip here months ago from another poster.
