Under the new graphical settings in the video menu you have one giant slider that will change all the drop down boxes to the selected detail level of the slider. If you set ultra, it makes all the drop down boxes ultra. Fair and simple enough. Sadly for people without the better hardware and use the lowest two settings on the slider will come to the realization that it defaults projected textures as "off". Which in this expansion SHOULD NOT BE. That should always be on until you choose to turn it off yourself.

I've been healing the new dungeons and I find that the healing required for them, isn't a lot at all. It's actually very boring. As long as people know what they're doing and what to avoid. Then it becomes too hectic and uncontrollable. Most things people take too much damage from are spots projected onto floors that people stand in without knowing. So many groups I've wiped in until I've mentioned projected textures and then the fight goes off without a hitch.

I don't often question Blizzard on their choices in game because I realize the undertaking of a project this size. But really, how could you "default off" one of the most important mechanics in your new system?

Yeah this recently happened to me, in both dungeon and for a quest. Kor'kron Drop where you have to escort the wind riders to the big red X, only appears if you have projected textures on, I sat there reading the quest, flying all over the place, "all the bottoms of all ramps in the area" and could not for the life of me find where it was. I eventually looked it up on wowhead and read the comments and told me that it needed to be turned on, and wouldn't you know it, red X clear as day.

When you set the bar to the far left, it turns everything off that can be turned off, and turns everything down that can be turned down. There are people playing on rigs that just can not show the decals on the ground without massive performance hits.
Personally, I think 'overall graphics' sliders shouldn't exist at all, ESPECIALLY when the game does such a damn fine job of explaining not only what each option is, but what each level of each option is.
If you can't figure out what the options do in PC games, there's plenty of consoles out there with no graphics options at all.

Because it also happens to be one of the more taxing effects. Personally, I think they should just add a much less graphics-intensive version of it if you have Projected Textures off, so that you can still see it, it just looks like crap.

Projected textures shouldn't be able to be turned off at all. At the lowest setting they should show a White/Black/Red/Yellow/Green/Blue circle on the ground to at least notify people that something is there.
