Something about the expansion, I feel like a Movie!Follow

#1 Dec 17 2010 at 1:29 PM Rating: Excellent
It's happening in almost each zone I vist. In Vashj'ir I felt the need to watch Jaws. In Redridge Mountains I felt the need to watch Rambo. And in Uldum I felt the need for Indiana Jones and The Mummy.

Anyone getting a bad case of movie nastolgia from playing the current expansion, or any of the past expansion content for that matter?

I thought this was going to be about the abundance of cut scenes!

The Uldum quests with Harrison Jones made me want to watch Indiana Jones, but mostly just for the music.

Heck, I've done Vashj'ir now three times on characters. I got Jaws playing as we speak.

Was contemplating making a similar thread, but since you beat me to it, I guess I'll just post here. Smiley: grin

I feel like I'm in a movie, yeah. Not just because a lot of the zones are references to movies, but also because of the style they made the quest chains in. You're not just a grunt passing by and killing a dozen murlocs for the heck of it, you're there for a reason. You feel more... included in the game.

It has its drawbacks, of course (I wouldn't be Debbie Downer if I didn't mention it), but overall I like it. Gives a purpose to leveling when you see zones change as you complete the various quests.

As for references, yeah, Uldum gave me that Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade vibe from before I even met Harrison Jones. Smiley: lol I also loved the Worgen starting zone. It had that London-ish feel to it. Like an old Jekyll and Hyde or Sherlock Holmes movie.

Well Locke and Maz have good points. Not only does playing the game remind you of films from the stories they tell, but also being apart of it. All the cut-scenes and the pure story driven questlines have you in there from the start of the zone. I haven't read this much quests in a long, long time^^

Not only do I feel like I'm in a story but I can't wait to find out what else is going to happen to the characters. Vash'jir to me is simply the greatest zone I've ever had the pleasure of leveling in. I was hooked the second I saw the giant squid attack the boat I was on. The zone is beautiful and I though the quests were fast paced enough. I did every quest in the zone and now I'm kind of sad that I have no more to do. Now I just hang out in the zone while I wait for instances. Great place and my hat's off to the developer who had the idea for this place to begin with.

The The John. J. Rambo Keeshan questline in redridge is just incredible, especially since i'm a huge fan of cheesy 80s action movies.

"I come back from 5 years of those Orcs using me as a toilet and get people spitting on me, protesting me. Calling me baby orc killer and all kinds of vile crap?!" They even have a slo mo animation for the npc tying on his red bandana.

I also laughed like a maniac at the quest entitled AAAAAHHHH! AAHHHHHHHHHHHH! where Keeshan machine guns hundreds of orcs from the back of a steam tank.

I had that too, until I got past cutscene #76047220472022058.17, then I felt like I just watched all the Indy movies.
