My top reasons why WoW is now the best it's ever been:
1. Leveling is possible without monotony. Getting xp from everything from BGs to gathering, as well as instances and the traditional quest-grind, makes the game perpetually fun.
2. Pretty much all classes are just so much better than they used to be - the new specialization from L10 makes all specs viable from L10, and the improved stats system means that agi-dependent classes do not have a huge advantage over SP-dependent classes until L60 like before.
3. BGs from x0-x4 seperate from x5-x9. This is game-changing for me! I used to dread hitting x0 because it meant many levels of grinding before I could enjoy BGs again. Now it's seemless! This one just might be my favorite change overall.
4. The new content is just SO much better than the old content. I know - we all knew it so well, and loved some of those quests, but the game is just so much better now. The quests flow much better, the objectives are more varied, there is less time spent wandering and more time spent doing *fun* things.
5. Rated BGs - Okay, I haven't done this yet, but the prospect has me tremendously excited. I have always had a love-hate relationship with Arena. Firstly, it is based almost completely on twitch reflexes, rather than thought, and my reflexes are definitely not as fast as some people. I struggled to get past 2000 (lifetime high was 2040 in S1 5v5) because the game was just too WHAM-BAM-DEAD for my liking. Way back in Vanilla WoW, I co-lead a guild that ran BGs and won most of them using superior strategy to trump better gear. It was a blast. There is so much potential for strategy in games like WSG and AB that has gone untapped - until now. I'm FAR from ready for BGs ( my new toon is only L27 right now) but I am so excited for when I get there!
6. Goblins! Thieving, playable Goblins!
7. FLight paths and graveyards everywhere - running across huge zones is a thing of the past!
8. Guilds - Finally have meaning! The rewards are awesome, and the motivation to actually do things as a guild seem like they could really help bond a good group of players together.
I could keep going and going ... I just love what they've done to this game. I play "casually" now, and I feel like any hour I want to spend on WoW I can always find something fun and productive to do.
Another 4 hours and I'll be home playing again instead of just talking about it ;)

I agree with all of this. I have nitpicks here and there, but taken as a whole the improvements are tremendous. I especially agree with your first point. I feel like I could level several alts before it started getting repetitive, just because of the sheer number of things for lower levels to do for exp now.

Completely agree. Every expansion has made the game more fun, but this one has been by far the best in my opinion!
I have to agree everything is exciting. I almost wish I could be a new player as the changes made are the game I wish I had 6 years ago.
I find good and bad in every Xpac or major patch. I still miss Pre bc raids and such. But everything has to change.
Only bad thing I can find about the leveling from 80 to 85 is that in order to unlock quests, you have to do pretty much every quest in the zone in the right order. Means your next characters will have to do the exact same quests. Reduces the replay value greatly, which sucks when you've got many alts.
And the revamping of the old zones is brilliant for leveling, but they could have included them some in the end-game content as well. Most of my alts are 70+, so most of the revamped stuff is wasted on me and pretty much everyone else who's played since the beginning. Would be nice if the level 80-85 quests took you to some of the old zones. They could easily use phasing to do this.
Overall, though, the expansion is good. It's nice finally getting to quest somewhere near home again.

I agree with Maz's opinion of the quests, that if you are not one to do a lot of dungeons you will be doing the exact same quests in the exact same order (as you only have 2-4 at any given time in a zone) making it really really repetitive. -- And I only have 3 80s (atm) and just starting my DK right now already gave me a... sigh, I guess I can start in Vash'jr this time to not see Hyjal but then it is the same from there. Fortunately I think he will get a lot of leveling out of gathering (he mines + herbs for me).
The only other thing that I can think to add is the length of the dungeons, I like that they are more difficult and that CC is required, but they take about twice as long (or at least 50% longer) than they should.

That's what a dungeon should be in my opinion. I mean who didn't play during Vanilla, and experience 1 plus hours of Uldaman, Sunken Temple, Wailing Caverns, etc,. They shouldn't all be 10 minute wham bam thank you mam's.

The thing that bothers me most about this is it makes gliches so much more visible. Before if a quest spawn became bugged it was relatively easy to avoid. You could report it, move on, and eventually it'd get fixed. Now in certain places (I'm looking at you underground cave in Hyjal full of fire elementals and stuff) you can get a glitch on a bottleneck quest, and it's a bit harder to "move on" elsewhere because the rest of the zone is phased. Though I suppose I got to take a look-see at Vashj'ir so it wasn't all bad...
But when it all works it is a lot of fun.

4.2: The new questing is too linear. There's 1 path and 1 path only. It's a great path most of the time, but it can be annoying.

I agree with Maz and Aethien on this one. It used to be if a quest pissed you off, you could just skip it. The new zones really don't allow for that; each one seems to be just one big chain.

Ok I'm lovin the heck out of the new XP pack and I agree overall WoW is the best its ever been. But if we want to add a bit of constructive critique as well here's my highlights of the new 80+ content:
1) Vash = Find Cave, Rescue 10 dudes, Kill ten things, pick ten things up off the ground, repeat
Its super pretty. Its really neat. But each cave gives you three quests and three quests only and they get repetitive real fast. I made it halfway though the zone then fled for:
2) Hyjal. Where it was nice to be on dry lnad and the stories were more varied and cool but once again I felt gated. Becuase I got 3 quests and no more until I did those 3. One of my favorite feelings is loading up on 7 quests and doing them efficiently. Then coming back with all those wonderful check marks in my log and a real feelign of progress.
3) Uldum: FAVORITE ZONE EVAH! No seriously. This zone makes up for everything else. I like how it was split between Jones side and King side. I bounced back and forth. Both quest lines were fantastic and I just love the scenery.
4) Twilight: Love the Zep trip in. Also later on amazing CS with Alexstraza that I wont spoil. Fun quests as well.
Anyway I have not done Deepholme except to herb becuase I was 83 halfway though highjal thanks to some dungeon runs. Looking forward to finishing those other zones for gold and rep.

I'm still undecided on whether I like healing, or more specifically, questing as a healer spec. Especially at 80-85, I've never felt as gimped for not being shadow as I have now. Disc is only just sub-par to other DPS classes if you pick up the Smite trick, but the thing is, Smite sucks for anything but leveling.
As if that weren't enough, healing can be extremely @#%^ing tedious in groups and raids. I remember a blue post about tanks, where they said something along the lines of "We don't want to make rage too much of an issue for warrior tanks though, as it doesn't feel fun if you're required to fulfill a role but constantly feel like you lack the resources to do so", and that's pretty much spot on how I feel in some fights. I think they went overboard with the whole 'you need to watch your mana' thing now - the fact that I can only cast about twelve non-Heal heals a fight and the fact that Lightwell is now the most @#%^ing OP healing spell in the game would be a testimony to that.
I don't mind having to make 'smart choices', but this is no longer about smart choices - this is about telling everybody to avoid ANY kind of damage (and to use the Lightwell if they do) and attempting to not run out of mana when you're forced to use quick mega-expensive heals to keep the tank up. From someone who experienced vanilla healing, I can say I liked that better for 'making smart choices'.
Edit: I forgot the clue of my whole post >.> - I was going to say; aside from that, I do like pretty much every change that has been made.

I like how they went ahead and said 'We're going to make healing more interesting' and then they tripled out spell costs and put out dungeons with exact same mechanics as those in Wrath.
There's no "triage" feeling to it. You don't find yourself wondering if you should keep the tank alive or the DPS. You find yourself spamming your heals on the tank and watching DPS get two-shot by AOE.
It's like Wrath, but with less mana at your disposal. Awesome.

Unless things are VERY different than beta, DPS shouldn't be two shot by anything they can easily avoid.
Of course, if your DPS is sitting there drooling while the first boss of BRC is doing his "I'mma pull you in and molesto you" thing instead of attacking the chains and running, they will indeed be killed quickly.
But for example, the third boss of BRC, he does SOME small damage that is aoe damage which is extremely easy to heal through.

I think he's talking about stuff like the grim batol drake. On heroic he randomly changes facing and almost immediately does a flame breath that will probably bring 3/5 of the group to dangerously low hp. Or that horrible prick in stonecore that has the tank moving and repositioning constantly. It wouldn't be so bad if the fights weren't literally raid boss length. From what i hear, healing gets much much easier when you get a full set of 346 blues, providing a hefty amount of mana regen. Plus the dps will have their combat rating back to respectable levels and figts wont take so long.
Maybe not end-game where everyone has a million health, but take ToT on the second boss. Places spots of hurt on the floor and then tosses people around. I had to drop a DPS because I was GCD locked on the tank. And the squid thing that silences and does massive AOE. Good thing I was level 83 and had Tranquility ready.
Unless you buy stuff from the AH, when you enter ToT, you'll be level 82 and have 40k health or so. People drop like rocks.

The second boss should be easy - if you are GCD locked on the tank, then the moron isn't avoiding the void zone-creating punches that take down 80% of his hp if he gets hit by them. The squid boss... he has an ability called 'absorb magic' which he does before the 'massive AOE'. The more damage you deal to him while he's channeling that, the harder his AoE hits. Tell your DPS to quit attacking.

I completely agree, leveling is so much fun now I don't even notice that I'm leveling. I particularly like what they've done with the talent trees. I have been leveling a nelf mage as arcane and while it was doable before it's a complete blast (no pun intended) now.
