As the title states, from the launcher, my "Play" button stays grey and will not switch over. It is the 4.0.0.12911 version, and if there is an update it will not update it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

The version is currently 4.0.3(13329), so that's why you can't log in. I see you haven't logged in in quite a while:P. Why it won't update, however, is beyond me. You could try deleting the WTF folder and the Cache folder, see if that does anything.

Awesome deal! Thank you, I just tried it however, and it wouldn't work for me, Just going to say eff it, and try for a fresh install. Man that is going to blow patching it though as I am sorta on a crappy net right now, do to deployment.

Try just starting the game without the launcher.

Use the game icon, not the Launcher icon? Smiley: facepalm

I wondered if the launcher is the latest version as it sounds like the pre cata one which would not try to update the game.

I guess it does suck with a crappy net i wish i could help.

Not that it helps you now since you can't get to the log in screen, but there's a box you can check off there to disable the launcher all together.

Tried just using the WoW icon in the files, Double click it, nothing happens, go to task manager and it shows WoW.exe running, but nothing is showing up on my screen. Anything else i can try?

You can try running the repair tool (REPAIR.EXE iirc).

And while I'm thinking about it, how much free disk space do you have?

As far as reinstalling, do you know anybody else at your base that plays? If so, just copy their wow folder to your laptop.

If an executable is acting far different than you'd expect it to, it's suspect.
How much memory is wow.exe taking up in your task manager? When was the last time you ran a virus scan where the .exe didn't start with McAffee or Symantec?

It could be your ISP is blocking downloading of torrent files. Even if P2P is disabled in WOW updater, the torrent file (named wow.tfil) needs to be downloaded for new streaming updates.
More information could be found on official forums: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/search?q=wow.tfil
