Thinking about playing again.....Follow

So I quit playing right before burning crusade came out. I had a 60 hunter with great armor etc. But I have this urge to come back and play now. What to you guys think? I loved the game even though it took over my life. I just feel I will be worlds behind everyone

Go for it. Even starting from scratch, you'll have fun and it'll all be new, because they've revamped the old-world starting areas and quest lines. Come on, just try it. You know you want it. Everybody else is doing it. Smiley: wink

Questing and leveling is faster now. You would be fine. The question is whether you want it taking your time as it did before. That part hasn't changed. Think about why you quit and that you are ok with it.

I quit because I didn't want to level to 70 after I just got to 60. But I have heard it is a lot faster to level now

Also, the quality of the game has improved a lot. I started when BC was already out. WotLK was a stunning improvement, and so far Cataclysm seems similarly good to me (and the old world zones have been upgraded a lot).

I agree with dadanox above: Consider whether you will be OK with the time sink that WoW will certainly be for you. If you're OK with that, then I don't think you need to worry about being behind everybody. There are always new players entering the game, as well as old players leveling up their alts, so it's not like you'll be all alone in low-level land while everybody else is sitting in endgame content.

In terms of UI and other changes, yes.

In terms of raiding and instances?

Uh, no.

Yup, it's faster to level. The 70-80 content is really good, and the old-world content has been upgraded. The 60-70 content may be about the same as it was before, but it should still pass by faster than before. I'm just starting on the 80-85 content (as we all are, other than people who were in the beta), and it's fun so far.

Disclaimer: I'm not a raider, so the "UI and other changes" category is the only part that I really noticed.

Well, then. There we have our answer.

Yeah, I guess if I was going into the expansion just to go, "oooh! Look at the shiny!" I'd have liked WotLK, because the questing and zones were fantastic, it was just the instances that I found lacking.
