Pretty Much the Worst Bug that Could HappenFollow

#1 Dec 07 2010 at 4:06 PM Rating: Good
This made me laugh pretty hard.

I assume it's fixed now, as I haven't had any problem leveling. But still, that's kind of a "worst case scenario" thing. At least they were able to (I think) hotfix it.

What weird bugs have you guys been seeing so far? I've been stuck in combat unable to mount a few times while leveling in Hyjal, but nothing major.

All in all, it seems pretty polished. And people were saying they'd never make December 7th a few months ago. Psh.

No bugs to report, other than the Archaeology Survey skill doesn't seem to be very precise.

I did a few quests and they seemed fine, if a little too populated for my tastes. I'll wait a few days and work on my Archaeology until it calms down.

If I ever get my copy, I plan on doing the first few quests for some quick gear upgrades for a character or two, then probably go back to doing Loremaster on my new tauradin after buying the FM License.

Or Archaeology.

Haven't made my mind up yet.

I had a somewhat funny bug myself;

In Vashj'ir, there are these fish, who have a specific attack they cast once they reach ~30% hp. The attack basically means that the fish starts eating you - you are placed inside the fish' mouth, become immobile, and gain a debuff that deals 5% of your hp per second. The only way to end the debuff is to kill the fish that's eating you.

The thing is, this debuff bugged out for me earlier - I killed the fish that was trying to munch me, but didn't lose the debuff. After one or two additional pulls I suddenly found myself on 20% hp and was wondering what the hell was going on. It ended up being a bit of an 'impending doom' thing. I managed to save my **** by healing up to full, bubbling and quickly relogging, though.

See this is why I'm glad I was able to post in the "Cataclysm released and I'm stuck at work" thread.

Would really suck to not get any exp, and I'm not one that really pay attention to those type of details. Back during TBC I didn't purchase the xpac right off and later tried the 10 day trial. Hit the exp cap at 60 and didn't realize it until I was just about done with quests in HFP.

*Edited cause I fail at formulating thoughts while looking over my shoulder at work. Given that I'm sure this post has other problems...

My worst bug was when I attacked a crab underwater while standing on land.

It 'evade-bugged' and wouldn't come out of the water. I waited for it for a bit, then headed under water to kill it. When I jumped in the water it attacked me 20ish times in the course of about a second, and suddenly I was at half health. It died, but I'm certainly glad I didn't wait any longer to jump in.

LOL thankfully that bug never effected me...

The worst and only bug I found was when mining in Hyjal. There was a node near a cave entrance. I kept struggling to figure out where it was. After a little poking around I suddenly plummeted through the ground and fell for about 30 secs before the game killed me. Thankfully, it transported my corpse in front of the spirit healer and I was able to rez without a penalty...

There is a deer in Hyjal near the area where you take the tunnel rat to the new blackrock dungeon. Anyways it is dead but it lets you skin it. It gives a skinning skill up, no loot, and it apparently doesn't despawn.

Theres a pretty big bug in the second zone of vashj'ir. The quest "By her lady's word" or something like that, one of the people you must talk to doesnt spawn, and it is a bottleneck quest that opens up more quests to do. Basically vashj' ir ends with this quest, and you should go to hyjal.

Edit: quest name

There's one quest in Hyjal where the ? on the map isn't correct. I've levelled two guys through there and it happened on both of them. I had one or two occurrences of the completed quest that wouldn't automatically close the window.

With the amount of people online yesterday, and with the new expansion, I'm very impressed by blizzard. They have done an amazing job with this launch.

Here's hoping that they only get better from here.

Yeah I had a quest in Deepholm last night where the ? on the minimap was in the wrong spot. And it was for the quest where you go talk to the dwarf that's up on the Alliance air ship, so it was a major pain trying to find her.

Other than that, I haven't had any bugs. One of my guildies had some issues with a couple of quests in Vash where he couldn't see the quest items, but it eventually worked out after abandoning and reaccepting the quest a few times.

I leveled a Goblin Warlock to about lvl 7 and was running around doing quests outside Town-In-A-Box, and my crummy graphics card crashed, then crashed, then crashed again about 6 more times til I got Blue Screen of Death. I can't log into that character now without my computer crashing. All my other characters work just fine. Obviously it's a problem with my low-end computer, but it's still something specific to Cataclysm content.
