So, I haven't played in over 6 months and I'll be honest, I haven't been reading up on the expansion during that time until the past week or so. I have an 80 Druid, a 79 Warlock and a 73 Hunter. I didn't bother leveling the 79 to 80 because I figured that, like the previous expansions before it, the new content would be available to characters above 78 and that I could just take it there and level to 80 quickly.
However, I realized that I don't get the quest off the bulletin board in Org on the 79, but do on the 80. Is there another way to start the new areas without being 80? I have to work today so I've only messed around in the game for like 30 min so far. Thanks!

I'm resigned to the fact my Warlock (78) will be in Northrend questing until 80. Though I don't know of any reason you couldn't go to the new areas and farm some mobs or something until the quests become available.

Can I physically fly into Mount Hyjal by myself(had a drake fly me in using the quest on my 80 character)? Or is there an entrance to the zone that is easily accessible?

My druid (80) flew up to Nordrassil from Moonglade this morning.
(I guess I can't say whether or not it'll work for lower level characters, but there weren't any swirling vortexes or loading screens on the way...) I forgot to read the text from the quest off the board, and TP'd to moonglade only to find out I needed to talk to someone in Stormwind.

THAT is what I needed to know. I only had like 30 min this morning to check it out before work, and I tried to fly to Hyjal from Orgrimmar, but was stopped by the high mountains there between it and whatever zone I was in. If I can get there from the Moonglade side, then I'll try that. Thanks!
You were stopped by the mountains? Did you TRY flying all the way up? In Beta you could just fly right in, but in your case I don't see the point. The quests don't open up 'til 80.
You technically can fly into Hyjal, but honestly I wouldn't recommend it at level 79. The mobs are probably going to prove difficult for 80's in greens, if your 79 is in all or mostly blues you might be okay. It's worth a try at least, but you'd probably be safer just finishing up in Icecrown.

From flying around mining, it looks like you can still walk into Hyjal from Winterspring.
